With Big Mom’s hunger growing so to is her fury which is now erupting onto the Straw Hat Pirates. As she rampages on board the Thousand Sunny, you can feel the desperation within Big Mom’s anger and see just how single-minded she has become. Intent on tasting the Wedding Cake, she has become unconcerned with her own well-being and is pushing herself passed her limits in hopes of satisfying the abyss that is her appetite. Oblivious to the truth, Big Mom continues to rage, without end. Burning through her vitality, tiring her body and most importantly deepening the hunger eating away at her being, Big Mom is straining herself beyond the familiar and into the unknown. How long will Big Mom last? And how satisfying with the taste of the Wedding Cake be when she does inevitably end up eating it?

One Piece Chapter 855 – The Chef And The Captain
Even though I had to expected Brook to have hidden the Poneglyph imprints within his skull/afro, what an awesome development it is to see it actually come about, especially when revealed in the context of the odds being stacked completely against Brook. I’m glad his moment wasn’t stolen but instead enhanced by Brook being the first person to steal an imprint of the Poneglyph right from under Big Mom (Roger didn’t steal one, he just read it). Big Mom had Brook in her possession and still failed to prevent her ‘treasures’ from being stolen. Now, she is going to fail to prevent the escape of Brook and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates. The fake Brook is going to fool Big Mom and it is going to be hilariously amazing.
One Piece Chapter 854 – Surfacing Emotions
Thank goodness Sanji, you have finally come back to your senses and realised what you need to do…Now run Sanji, run! Luffy is waiting for you! Starving himself to express how much the Straw Hat Pirates need you. Pushing himself passed his limits to keep the promise he made with you. Save Luffy, Sanji!!
One Piece Chapter 850-851 – Pudding’s Deception
Oh wow, so Pudding wasn’t who she made herself out to be, I am so glad. I am so glad the immense suspicion I had for Pudding and the uneasiness I felt from her character were correctly placed. I so wanted to believe in Pudding’s “pure” side but the imbalance of her character within the context of this arc made it painfully hard not to doubt her character. It was grating and unpleasant not to believe her kindness when there was no concrete reason to doubt her action, so I am glad, glad that I didn’t misjudge a character and blacken my heart in error. Pudding not being the kind and pure girl she pretended to be and instead being rotten to core also helps convey to myself that I am not as confused with the flow of this story arc as I had initially concluded.
One Piece Chapter 849 – Stealing The Treasure
Of course things didn’t go as planned, but to have Big Mom personally come to the Treasure Room to break down the door and engage the intruder, how incredibly unfortunate for Brook. Just goes to show how much the Tamatebako means to Big Mom. With him in the process of making an imprint, I wonder if he will have enough time to finish before he is captured because with Big Mom there, it doesn’t seem like he has much chance of escaping. Elsewhere, Reiju seems to have been subject to a battle given her grievous injurious and inability to walk and stand without support. Just what happened? Who did that to Reiju?
One Piece Chapter 848 – Breaking Into The Treasure Room
Okay, I don’t get Pudding, what is Oda-sensei planning with her? Was she really innocent and genuine? Are there no ulterior motives behind that cheerful smile of hers? Were the tears she shed really ones conveying her resolve to change the dark outcome about to result if she chooses to do nothing? Is Pudding really serious about going against Big Mom and destroying the very plans her mother has set-up? I just don’t get it. I don’t see Pudding dying yet but I am very curious to see what Oda-sensei has planned for her during the remainder of this arc.
One Piece Chapter 846 – The Big Mom Pirates
I’m not really sure what to think of this arc, it’s developing in a really unexpected way albeit with a predictable end, or so I assume. Ever since the Zou Arc, Oda-sensei has handled the arcs at a sought of tangent from how the story would usually develop, this is probably largely due to the Yonko becoming the focus and the crew having been split in half. Now with every chapter, I find myself both surprised and in wonder towards where Oda-sensei is taking the elements in his story. The end result may be predictable, but I just cannot read the flow of the story. At the same time, it is both challenging and exciting constantly being overwhelmed by awe and the lack of predictability in regards to how the apparent defined end will be reached. Continue reading
One Piece Chapter 831-835 – The Wonderment Of Wholecake Island
With the arrival of the Straw Hat Pirates (half) + extras on Wholecake Island, the mission to rescue Sanji and to retrieve an imprint of the Road Poneglyph has begun. Within the enemy territory and devoid of the element of stealth, the odds seem grossly stacked against Luffy and Co, especially now that they have encounter one of Big Mom’s daughters, Charlotte Brûlée’s, who possesses a dangerous ability, the Mira Mira no Mi. With Carrot entrapped in “Mirror World” and Chopper missing, Luffy and Nami will have to figure out fast how to deal with Brûlée and now Charlotte Cracker.
One Piece Chapter 629-630 – Scarred Hearts
It’s quite the tricky situation Luffy and Jinbe find themselves in. Both have something to protect and both have their ways in wanting to protect it, and herein lies the differences. Small differences that drive walls between people, neither wrong yet neither in support of each other.
One Piece Chapters 624-628 – Otohime, The Queen Who Inspired The Hearts Of Her People
Oh One Piece, I can’t win against you, you always find a way into my heart and invoke the tears out of me with your moving and impacting characters. Fisher Tiger’s story and the story about Queen Otohime was amazing.
