One Piece Chapter 1060 – The World Government’s Secret Weapon

One Piece chapter 1060 - The World Government's secret weapon

We have known about floating Islands in the sky since Skypiea and about man-made/alien Island flying constructs since that scene where Capone Bege was pulled into the sky pre-timeskip but this is the first time we have seen a Death Star type of weapon floating in the sky, although it could very be the construct Bege was attracted to pre-timeskip. With such a development, the World Government has now become the Empire within One Piece. If it was clear that the World Government are the final antagonist of One Piece (sorry Blackbeard), it should be very apparent now.

One Piece Chapter 1059 – Assault On Amazon Lily

One Piece chapter 1059 - Shakuyaku is the former Empress of Amazon Lily

What a spectacular turn of events to introduce the new technology of the Marines and consolidate the chaos erupting within the New World with the dissolution of the Shichibukai and the defeats of two of the Yonko. What appeared to be a likely victory for the Marines turned into a conflict that saw Blackbeard make an entrance and even the reintroduce Rayleigh into the story along with Shakuyaku who was a former Empress of Amazon Lily and the the former captain of the Kuja Pirates. How wild. I love it.

One Piece Chapter 1058 – A Clown’s Fortunate Misfortune

One Piece Chapter 1058 – Buggy's fortunate misfortune

Ever since the happenings surrounding Buggy within his initial appearance and the cover pages featuring him and his adventures, especially his meeting with Ace and the events that transpired within Impel Down, he has captured the essence of fortunate misfortune. Buggy may not get what he wants through the circumstances unraveling around him but what occurs is a miraculous level of serendipity that puts the fortune in misfortune. Truly, when it come to Buggy, when fortune strike, it always misses the mark for him hence that humorous spin of mis-fortune he is embraced by. Such a conveyance is expressed comprehensively within this chapter.

One Piece Chapter 1057 – Yamato’s Decision

One Piece Chapter 1057 - Luffy associates the Straw Hat Pirates with Wano Kuni

While within the realm of possibility, I am curious as to why Oda-sensei scripted Yamato in such a manner to only have him remain in Wano Kuni out of focus. I did suspect such a development, but I couldn’t see much reason for it considering the character and narrative momentum Oda-sensei has associated behind Yamato. One of the earlier theories I had which could have seen Yamato remain in Wano was the possibility of there being a seventh Wano Family and Kaido and Yamato being descendants of that family. In order to discover more about his blood and family story, Yamato would need to remain in Wano to uncover additional information. With Yamato not remaining in Wano to follow the “path” Oden took in traveling Wano, this could potentially open up an interesting path for Yamato to develop to be weaved into the story at a later point when the Straw Hat Pirates are in need of assistance.

Star Wars: Andor (Episode 1-3)

Star Wars: Andor - poster

Andor is such a phenomenal series. It presents the Star Wars universe in such a fascinating and eerily compelling manner. It becomes easy to forget that beyond the battle of balance ongoing between light and dark and at times the same forces, there exist the side of the universe that doesn’t have the privilege to engage in such ideological reflection. Within that exhibition, Andor feels like a breath of fresh air. While the Jedi and Sith embody the core iconic appeal of Star Wars, the meaning of Star Wars lies more entrenched in it’s universe and the societies conflicting and harmonizing within.

Arcane: League Of Legends (Season 1) Review

Arcane Episode 7 - Jinx

What a tragic and compellingly melancholy series yet one constructed on pillars of hope. Pain is an experience that connects us all yet by its nature see’s hearts deviate in division. Where one see’s a path to move forward on, others see a wall to destroy and break down. Mistakes befall us all. Failures embrace us all. Death awaits us all. Equally. And without bias. Just as we are born into this world together, we live in it together and disappear from it together. The true tragedy within Arcane isn’t the destruction caused but the compassion that was lost in the chaos of life. Perception, without a doubt, is one of the most powerful… and most dangerous abilities ever to exist.

Dota: Dragon’s Blood (Series) Review

DOTA: Dragon's Blood poster

Based on the MOBA video game Dota 2, Dragon’s Blood is a series about balance, possibility and the ever changing reality that resides within the boundless entrenches of existence. Within the world’s creation, its life was split across several souls that now embody Dragons. A force that seeks to reshape existence in their own image coverts these souls and the possibility within them. A Dragon Hunter finds himself caught up in this pursuit where they are subsequently forced to engage in aspects of creation they would otherwise have been oblivious toward. Also within the center of this existential interplay between conflicting ancient forces is the Princess of the Moon.

Edens Zero Chapter 204 – The Story of [Ziggy]: Void

Edens Zero Chapter 204 - Ziggy's forgotten memories

I was absolutely wrong in my assessment of Ziggy and future <spoiler> in relation to the story and I don’t mind in the slightest because this has to be one of most affecting reveals I have experienced in Edens Zero. Everything from Ziggy’s inception, to the growing void in his heart, to the mission he was assigned with, to the Edens Zero’s origins. It all makes sense now. Why Ziggy began as such a character and why through the course of the expanding narrative, the shift occurred and entrenched Ziggy within the path he now finds himself on. It wasn’t nonsensical or illogical but a tragedy sourced from consequences of what came before.

Edens Zero Chapter 203 – Shiki VS Ziggy: Convergence

Edens Zero Chapter 203 - Future Shiki within the 20,000 year future timeline

The revelation within this chapter explains many things but it still leaves me confused in certain regards. The form Ziggy takes and the declaration he states conveys a clear narrative but the pathway toward this moment conflicts against its rationale. The Ziggy we knew was very much themed around a mechanical construct with limitations and operations consistent with that of a machine but given the current reveal, it appears human elements were apparent in the directives of Ziggy at least from the point when evil Ziggy revived after the Drakken Joe incident. The biggest question I have though, is why did “Ziggy” travel back to “that” moment? What was so special about that time? Was it lead Shiki down a certain path?

Prey (2022) Review

Prey (2022) poster

Prey is a complete film that smartly used its setting, pacing and characters to craft an experience that embodied a “hunt” and a journey which evolved from the “hunted” becoming the “hunter”. Out of all the Predator films that came before, Prey has now become my most favourite entry within the franchise and if I am being totally honest, I found it superior than many blockbuster films released this year.
