So Jellal really was caught inside Midnight’s illusion, thought as much since none of the Oración Seis members were rendered unconscious to remove the seals on Zero. But wow, Jellal crushed his own eyes to negate the effects of the illusion on him, what a badass. Following it up with the attack he was prevented from using against Jura during the Grand Magic Games Arc – Sema, which completely defeated Racer, Cobra, Angel and Midnight. Crawford this chapter, what a fool, what made him think that the demons trusted and valued him? They only valued his abilities that allowed them to get their hands on the keys sealing the magic weapon, Face. I guess Crawford gets his just desserts for being so overconfident and overestimating his own importance – stabbed right through the chest by Kyouka. With face’s seals broken and it now open to activation, looks like we may really get see what will happen to Fiore when magic is removed entirely. Great chapter.
Well I wasn’t expecting that…did Jellal seriously get a hole blown in his chest with that special beam cannon attack of Zero’s? The real confusing part is why Zero’s seal was released, I was of the impression that the seal only broke when all of the Oración Seis members were incapacitated. Now that I think about the circumstances surrounding Jellal’s “death” are incredibly suspicious, was Zero’s seal even broken in the first place? It is possibly that Jellal is caught in an illusion of Midnight, one in which he “dies”. It would make sense having Midnight put Jellal in an illusion to size him up and gather what Jellal’s intentions really are.
Well well, so such a twist was artfully waiting in the shadows to pounce on our intrigue and push forward a really plot-driven chapter. Darkness sure can be a comforting blanket embracing a person, to be able to have the shadows of problems created by light disappear into nondiscrimination and be completely surrounded in one simple perception, that of darkness, it is no wonder people are allured by such a profound and welcoming touch. As for the reasons this ex-council member joined the darkness of demons, one can only speculate and drive the ball of reason round and round. But what is certain is that from the moment twenty foot soldier type characters jumped into the scene something definitely felt off. A solid excellent chapter nonetheless, loved this part 1 of the “Sin and Sinners” chapters.
