Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 112 – Selene’s Wish

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 112 - Selene reveals her dream to Gray

Now that Selene has found an answer to the Five Dragons issue she was consumed by, her demeanor has softened substantially to the point where her obsession over the end sought has given way to relief. A release of distress at the uncertainty and implausibility of achieving what she wished. Desperation paved the path toward her questionable actions and encouraged her methodology of how she balanced anxiety and alleviation. Entertainment became Selene’s medicine when remedying the madness deduced from the magnitude of her mission. There was no room left for compassion, only an equal level of madness to propel herself forward toward the darkened path before her. With Selene’s eyes now focused on the answer to her concerns, she appears to see more clearly than ever before. And within this newfound realization, Selene also appears to be reflecting on the equivocal nature of her past actions.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 111 – Selene’s Gambit

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 111 - Selene constructs a plan to defeat Dogramag

It has begun, the shift of Selene from antagonist toward a role akin to antihero. It was always apparent from the start that despite Selene’s categorization, she never served a traditional antagonistic role but was more an entity concerned with their own self-interest and enjoyment. Yet now we have an official path forward for Selene toward representing a player within the Fairy Tail universe that embodies an independent force beyond protagonist and antagonist. Unlike Fairy Tail, Selene understands the resulting possibilities of Ignia and Dogramag’s current actions and as a result of the potential consequences, she has gathered together the members of Fairy Tail within the Labyrinth to pry open a path forward for Natsu and Suzaku to defeat Dogramag.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 110 – Laxus VS Kirin: Thunder’s Wrath

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 110 - Laxus removes the lacrima from his chest

Within the madness of hunger overwhelming the Dragon Eaters is a misery defining the consumed Dragon’s soul which perpetually eats away at the silence of ones mind. The flesh consumed carries with it the magic power of the Dragon but when the hosting form represents an imbalanced human body, the resulting magic merging with the form creates an instability and conflict abrasively clashing the mind with the stolen power. These echoes of vengeance continuously terrorize the host forcing the remedy of locking away the soul within a box to lighten the erosion of mental constancy. Kirin came to dread the whispers of wrath whereas over the course of destruction, defeat, regret and renewal, Laxus learned to envelop the crackling temptation of power with the thunderous symphony of his own reformed lightning.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 109 – Laxus VS Kirin: Thunder Dragon God

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 109 - Laxus is serious against Kirin

As the chaos unfolds on the surface with Natsu and Suzaku engaging Dogramag, within the confines of the labyrinth remain Laxus and Kirin who conflict on the representation of Thunder’s avatar. Both Laxus and Kirin have a connection to the Thunder Dragon King, Exelion. Kirin consumed the Dragon and Laxus had the Dragon’s heart inserted inside his body once the heart was processed into a Lacrima. What a fascinating revelation concerning the Dragon Lacrima. I always thought the Dragon Slayer Lacrima were a concentration of magic imbued with Dragon magic or magic that associates closely with it. I was not anticipating the Dragon Lacrima to be sourced from an actual Dragon heart. It makes so much sense now why more Dragon Slayers weren’t created via the lacrima method. The resource required to birth a new Dragon Slayer via a lacrima required a Dragon heart which is a grossly finite resource.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 108 – Dogramag: The Labyrinth Awakens

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 108 - Dogramag Dragon form

What a fascinating twist to bring Dogramag into the focus. The uneasiness felt throughout the arc concerning the sentience surrounding the Labyrinth wasn’t just mere agitation. For the Labyrinth to exist in a living state, it quickly became apparent that Dogramag merged his spirit with the surrounding Earth that he formed into a Labyrinth. It was unclear if the life force stored in the Labyrinth possessed consciousness or whether it operated according to the parameters of Dogramag’s residual will that remained from his self prior to be defeated by Elefseria. We learn within this chapter that Dogramag still retained his consciousness when he shifted his life force within Elefseria’s heart before merging it with the surrounding Earth. I suspected as much when it was first revealed the Labyrinth was alive that Dogramag, the weakest of the Six Dragon Gods, bridged any gap in power that existed with moments of cunning. This astuteness represented itself in Dogramag’s ability to keep himself alive even after being defeated by Elefseria over a hundred years ago. What remains a mystery still is why Dogramag chose the form of a Labyrinth.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 107 – Selene VS Ignia: Diversion

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 107 - Selene and Ignia clash

Ignia presents himself as such an entitled fool. He has disillusioned himself to the point of believing he is the strongest existence walking the Earth Land but where was he when the real threats of the world endangered life and brought everything to the brink of annihilation? Ah, that is right, he was hiding in Guiltina away from Acnologia. Ignia keeps mentioning he was stronger than Acnologia and that he would have killed Acnologia had he met him. But all Ignia has to pad his claims are words. Hollow, exaggerated, meaningless words. At no time during the 400 years Acnologia was present did Ignia even attempt to face him. Not even when Acnologia himself was present in Guiltina during the attempt Gildarts made at the 100-year-quest. Ignia hid. And now he has the gall to preach himself as the hero who could have taken down Acnologia? Sorry but I don’t buy that. Ignia is much weaker than he believes. His claim of being stronger than Acnologia is just a fantasy. A diversion from reality his mind enraptured his belief in to cope with his own inabilities. Even now, against Selene, he used a moment of distraction to capitalize on Selene’s weakened guard. The path Ignia has before him is one where the bitter reality of truth will come crashing down on him.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 106 – Selene VS Ignia: Distortion

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 106 - Selene arrives to stop Ignia

Ignia’s abrupt entrance within the conflict between Fairy Tail and Diabolos reveals itself to be based on an alliance comprised of Ignia and Dogramag. A plan set in motion between the two sometime before Dogramag’s fall with Dogramag taking it upon himself to utilise the magic of Elefseria’s human heart to move forward the intentions of Ignia. Dogramag didn’t have the opportunity to share his ideas with Ignia before he died but Ignia eventually sensed a disturbance and paid the Labyrinth of Dogramag a visit. Ignia discovered what Dogramag left behind which at this point does not appear to require the human heart of Elefseria anymore. Selene confronted Ignia but was unable to stop him from destroying the heart and when she expressed her reasoning behind her opposition to him, Ignia retorts with the Age of Dragons is “only just beginning”. This response from Ignia suggest the plan Dogramag and he constructed involves a potential revival of Dragons. What did Dogramag do with Elefseria’s heart and how does Ignia intend to revive the Dragons?

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 105 – Erza VS Misaki: Scarlet Enchantment

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 105 - Erza channels Jellal through her attack

Warfare truly is grounded on information and for those lacking in it, the consequences can be irreparable. Neither Erza nor Misaki knew what the other was capable of but the assessment of what was possible came to define where victory ultimately settled. Misaki presumed her superiority and as if covering her own eyes, she neglected to take into account variances to past experiences. Erza on the other hand, continuously took steps to improve herself by learning new magics. And the aspect of the battle that concluded the conflict was the Enchantment magic Erza had learned from Wendy. A Scarlet magic encapsulating Erza’s love and rage. Love she feels toward Jellal and rage directed at Misaki for cutting her precious hair.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 104 – Erza VS Misaki: Unshatterable

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 104 - Erza VS Misaki

A dimension that distorts the flow of time within the body opposed to the time externally affecting it. That is the ability Misaki wields to trap her opponent within the inevitability of defeat. Her seemingly absolute sovereign within her Blue Dimension allows her a precedence capable of extinguishing any challenge within a matter of seconds. Immobilizing physicality, Misaki capitalizes on the confusion to launch fatal blows on her enemies that don’t usually get back up after the initial encounter. But there is a first time for everything and it appears Misaki may have met a obstacle she cannot break. An unshatterable individual who doesn’t get washed away by the flow of her techniques.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 103 – Lucy VS Kiria: Memories

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 103 – Lucy cast Celestial Trinity Magic Gottfried

In those moments when Lucy’s back is against a wall with her comrades behind her and no where to go but through the enemy, she displays flashes of potential that ascends her capabilities to levels embodying that of some of the strongest mages in the story. The manner in how Lucy evolves her Celestial Magic in addition to being able to continuously improve how she can stack her spells on top of her summoning establishes how immense her capacity for magic is. If Lucy was one who naturally sought out strength, how far could she push her Celestial Magic? If she could tap into her boundless potential without the need for external circumstances, how powerful of a mage could she become?
