Selene’s plans have been set in motion and with it the gathering of the Dark Dragon Slayers has resulted. Diabolos plays their strongest hand in order to pursue the path of an age without Dragons. They have attacked the Great Labyrinth where the Sixth of the Five Dragon Gods slumber. A Sixth Dragon that would presumably awaken once the seal of the Five Dragon Gods is lifted. Selene intends to exploit the power within the Great Labyrinth to make defeating Viernes and Ignia into a reality. With Elefseria now aware of Diabolos’s movements and Fairy Tail present, it is only a matter of time before the conflict between Fairy Tail and Diabolos begins.Continue reading
What a fascinating shift in intentions for Selene. She not only recognised the inevitability of rejecting the flow of the world by acting as a Dragon feared across it but reconciled her vision to adapt her existence within such a changing world. The ease at which she is able to pivot her actions to accommodate her desires is truly spectacular. There is no animosity or outright disdain behind her actions. Sure, Selene is aware of her own superiority but sensibility is the overriding concept prevailing within her perspective. Selene, The Moon Dragon God, has become an incredibly fascinating character in regards to her story, attitude and potential. What began as a Dragon that appeared evil turned into an existence that represented a more chaotic neutral alignment. What Selene seeks isn’t the suffering, destruction or annihilation of humanity but rather the longing for entertainment. The collateral derived is but an indirect consequence of her thirst for recreation. When amusement is at play, lesser existences relevant to her pursuit are assimilated to objects of entertainment to be taken advantage of. Selene is not evil but overwhelmingly transcendent in her perspective of less cultivated beings.Continue reading
What an abrupt and unexpected development. I was not anticipating such a scenario to unfold right after the conclusion of the Elentir arc. The choice Selene made goes beyond conceit and arrogance. It was carefully planned and executed. The burning desire for vengeance could be felt through the manner in which it was effected. Suzaku was played and so were the rest of the Diabolos. Selene understood the weakness perceived in herself as well as those in the forces opposing her and exploited both remarkably. Her actions in regards to what was done to her son, Kurnugi, has left me in reverence at her brutal magnificence. How spectacular Selene, what a move.Continue reading
The cause of the danger leading Elentir to the brink had less to do with Selene directly affecting it and more to do with the distortion she created indirectly amplifying a problem that already existed from ancient times on Elentir. The issue was in the form of Alta Face that throw the equilibrium of magic and life into imbalance. Selene was likely unaware of the exact specifics behind the imbalance but she sensed the effects of her distortion and relished in its potential for destruction. An event of amusement piquing the intrigue of a Dragon existing beyond the rationality of mortals. With Alta Face defeated and the balance of Elentir on the path to restoration, what now will come of the world and in particular, Selene. Will she revisit the world or will her concerns deviate toward the consumption of vengeance?Continue reading
A power cold enough to chill one to the bone and a fantasy warm enough to melt the heart. Such is the Mugen Setsugekka that Hakune attempted to defeat Gray with. Yet within the maelstrom of happiness, Gray held on to his purpose and shattered the illusion devoid of the one he loves. Deep down what Gray seeks is the embrace of those he loves and moments of normality to share amongst them. Simple and blissful moments of celebration together with his family. Moments that he had not had the opportunity to experience with them. Part of Gray was certainly seduced by such joy yet another aspect of himself feels he has a duty beyond making himself happy. When an end arrives, emotions from the corners of the extremes meld together into an ineffable moment. Whether it be joy, sorrow, relief, disappointment, satisfaction, numbness or indifference. It is a moment where the many feelings one holds for that experience cascades together. A story is no different. Upon its end, you come to characterise the meaning of the experience within emotion. If a story is particularly enjoyable and resonant with ones heart, a fascination for what lies beyond emerges. Such is the case with Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest for me. I can’t help but feel privileged and grateful that such a joyous and enjoyable story has a continuation. A story that now sees Fairy Tail target the 100 Years Quest that no other mage guild has managed to complete is over a century. Let the new adventure commence!Continue reading
Fairy Tail may not delve into themes as deep as identity and existentialism or analysis the philosophy of freedom and responsibility against the constructs of religion and society and it may not challenge the darker themes it does begin to voyage into but what Fairy Tail does have is heart, and a lot of it. It’s emotionally powerful scenes drive the story, the character development and the characters themselves. The encouraging touch of its embrace resonances deep within the reader, inspiring connections with the characters alive in its story and struggling through its world to be formed. And central to that evocation is the heart of the story; the guild Fairy Tail.
The heart is a miraculous existence that allows us to connect to others, to share our emotions with them and to have emotions shared with us. And yet, along with the joy it is able to conjure, the shadows of its rhythm also awakens a darker beat of love. A realm of negativity in which the echoes of optimism and bonds of relation can be submerged and lost within. Such concepts are the navigating expressions embodying the adventures and journeys within Fairy Tail. Characters lose themselves within their pain, torment and heart yet through their shared connection with others, they are able to accept the debilitating thoughts within their mind and embrace the warmth of their imperfections.Continue reading
Despite my attempts at understanding what happened with Mavis’s child, I failed to even consider August relevant to Mavis even with the acknowledgement that August would serve a key role being the last the Spriggan 12. I questioned Larcade’s age not being consistent with when Mavis’s child was implied to have been born yet did not look at the one character whose age would allow the timing to fall in line. Even the desperation August had at finding an answer to the reason Zeref didn’t love his child, it makes sense now why such a question would torment August inside. His power and devotion to Zeref all make sense now.
So Larcade really is Mavis’s son? How was he able to survive for so long or was his birth delayed by Mavis’s body being entrapped within a Lacrima prison? Given Irene, it is not impossible but how did Mavis give birth to Larcade and why is she unaware of having a son? Mavis meeting Larcade is inevitable and now that Zeref has injured Larcade, Mavis will need to be brought back into focus to save her son. She will convey to Larcade what love is; what a parents love is, particularly, what a mother’s love. And August will finally have his answer for why ‘his majesty’s son was not loved’, because he was loved already despite Mavis not knowing of his existence and Larcade not knowing of his mother’s existence. Mavis will “save” Larcade and help liberate him as to who he really is.
