Express your resolve and shout it out loud. For twenty long years, this moment has permeated in the depths of Yamato’s mind. Regret at her inability, frustration at her weakness and self-reproach for not being able to save Momonosuke whom she thought had died on that day twenty years ago. Now with his presence before her, Yamato gathers all those feelings alongside her conviction inspired by the spirit of Oden and declares her position to both Momonosuke and the Beast Pirates. She was not strong enough twenty years but in this moment, she will bear the weight of the Beast Pirates against her and challenge death itself if the need arises in order to protect Momonosuke and the dream the Kozuki family embody.Continue reading
Their conviction, regret and swords have been carried across twenty years, all with the hopes of culminating into such a moment where they are able to bear their very hearts through the blades they now direct against the existence responsible for the suffering of their people and the creature who killed their Master. Jack has been overwhelmed and now the Akazaya Nine turn to face the architect behind all the lands suffering, the captain of the Beast Pirates, Hundred Beast Kaido.Continue reading
Unable to bear the ire welling up inside at the sight of precious food being wasted that is desperately needed by the residents of Okobore Town and those like them, Luffy has expressed his abhor for the actions of the Beast Pirates by unleashing on them. Expectantly, Luffy’s actions has drawn attention to himself including the curiosity of Zoro who amusingly liberated himself from his restrictions and consequently sliced a building apart that was blocking his straight-line path to the source of the chaos. Luffy and Zoro’s behaviour in turn have attracted the perception of Scratchmen Apoo, who after having identified the two proceeds to attempt to capture them. Unaware of how Apoo’s abilities work, Luffy and Zoro fall prey to his sound attacks and as a result of fighting too much uncertainty the two decide to avoid direct confrontations and instead opt to force their way through to the Castle. What this chapter has demonstrated wholly is how unprepared Luffy and Zoro are and why the inclusion of Jinbe, someone who educates himself on the knowledge of the situation and his opponents, was such a necessary development.Continue reading
Crocodile felt it. Enel felt it. Rob Lucci felt it. Moria felt it. Hody felt it. Caesar felt it. Doflamingo felt it. Katakuri nurtured it. The Marines realise it. The World Government fears it. Whitebeard recognized it. Ace sacrificed his life for it. Shanks ignited it. Buggy is envious of it. Law supports it. Big Mom’s territory was shaken by it. And now that storm known as Luffy is targeting the strongest creature in world, Kaido, whom is seriously underestimating the threat this one rookie poses. And can bet such disrespect will undeniably lead to Kaido’s downfall.
Both Kaido and Linlin have reason to hate and fight each other but it appears they have instead decided to focus on the reason they have to work alongside each other, one that should send shivers down every inhabitant of the One Piece world. For two titanic individuals to seemingly ally with each other to conquer the world means a grim reality for everyone else. Joining together Big Mom’s information network and Kaido’s beast army is a recipe for destruction and chaos. Baring one of the two turning on the other, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates cannot hope to take on two of the strongest individuals in the New World together. Luffy may be the rebels secret weapon but he would just be carved apart against both Kaido and Linlin, unless of course Zoro is able to enhance his swordsmanship and assist Luffy against the Yonko. Even still, the gap in power is just too wide for the rebels to take on two Yonko. Which is why I feel that a third party will become involved in the coming events, namely Kuzan.
What an interesting turn of events with Gyukimaru being the fox, Onimaru, a companion of the Daimyo of Ringo who passed away shortly after Wano Kuni was lost to Kaido and Orochi. Onimaru took it upon himself to protect the honour of all those who passed away in Ringo from having their graves disturbed by the Beast Pirates. He also took himself to see Kawamatsu’s mission through once Kawamatsu unexpectedly disappeared one day. For twenty years, he too has been fighting for the day when Wano Kuni can be reclaimed.
Hiyori is quickly being built up as the secret weapon of Wano Kuni no one knows about save Zoro and Kawamatsu. Despite the prisoners of Udon rallying behind Momonosuke as the son of Oden, Momonosuke has no right to ask them to lay their lives down to save the world still fresh in his mind given his lack of suffering alongside the rest of them. As conveyed by Shutemaru earlier in the arc, just because they are figures from the past who the people of Wano Kuni once knew, that does not mean the people have to follow them. The fate required in the upcoming battle demands an ironclad level of respect and honour. Something which I believe Hiyori earned based on how she has been continually fighting for her family’s dream over the last 20 years.
Even though minimal coverage has been focused on Kozuki Oden as a character relative to the Wano Kuni Arc, he has been established as an honourable and powerful character, one who cared about the country of Wano Kuni and wished for it to genuinely prosper both economically and socially. With his son now standing in his position foreign to the weight shouldered on such a leadership role, how will Momonosuke react to the responsibility and courage asked of him? From now on, Momonosuke cannot merely reside in the background and leave the mess in the Wano Kuni for someone else to clean up, he has to proactively lead the eyes asking questions of him to fight for their own freedom and future.
As expected Luffy has put his foot in his mouth and attracted the wrath of an enraged Linlin. Fortunately for him, Linlin has not seen passed his disguise and realised who he is but chances are high that Linlin will come to recognize who Luffytaro is once he escapes the Prisoner Mines. What I am curious about is whether Big Mom will retain some of her core kindness once she remembers and reverts back to her fully realised Big Mom self.
It’s on! The clash between two monstrous pirates has began and the stage is the Prisoner Mines. You can bet though that Luffy will be incorporated into the fight given Kid and Killer’s lives being on the line. You can also bet that Luffy will attract Linlin and Queen’s chagrin once he reveals that there is no O-Shiruko left because he ate it all up. The glorious, unexpected and unknown thorn in both their sides will continue to distress their egos.
