[Theory] One Piece – Yamato And The Lunarian People

One Piece chapter 1016 - Yamato facing off against Kaido alone

Ever since King’s introduction I have wondered how Kaido came across him. How did the two meet and was King the only Lunarian member Kaido encountered? When Yamato was introduced, I wondered if Yamato’s mother was part of the same race as King. There isn’t anything definitive to suggest so but with every chapter than elapses with Yamato’s mother omitted, I grow ever curious wondering if her role within the story is being saved for a major reveal. If there was a faction that would have another Lunarian member existing within it, it would be the Beast Pirates. King is likely not the sole survivor of the race. Yamato’s mother may not be important or she may be incredibly important. What is certain is that there existed a person intimate with Kaido and Yamato that existed. She does not have to be mentioned for the audience to be aware that Yamato had a mother and Kaido a partner. The foreshadowing exist naturally with the potential to track forward in a myriad of directions.

[Analysis] One Piece – The Race That Existed Atop The Red Line

One Piece chapter 1022 - Marco reveals the race King belongs to used to exist atop the Red Line

Long ago in the past, there existed people who lived atop the Red Line that could generate flames from their body. After certain events occurred, these people were ‘lost in the mists of time’ and currently the only member of this race shown is King the Wildfire. Taking into account what we know about this race, we can extrapolate a few pieces of information about this race: they weren’t on friendly terms with the Tenryuubito and due to likely not wanting to give up their home, they were targeted and brought to the edge of extinction. Few may have escaped by abandoning their home but they lost to what is now the World Government. Marijoa may also have been the location of this races homeland. Like other shadows the World Government wishes to hide, they buried knowledge of such a race in the darkness of time, omitting them from the history they wish known.

One Piece Chapter 1020 – Robin VS Black Maria: Reflection Of Bonds

One Piece chapter 1020 - Robin and Brook evade Black Maria's atacks

Enigmatic, introverted and reserved, Robin may not always be frank with her feelings but when it comes to living the life saved by the Straw Hat Pirates, she is valorously expressive about her gratitude. It may not be in words but her actions speak just as loudly if not more so. Robin has lived a life where she was forced to detach herself from the construct of society and exist as a independent player within the shadows. Camaraderie and fellowship were nonexistent within such a world for Robin. That is, until she met Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates. Robin’s perspective and heart changed since her encounter with them. The joy she now feels is a direct result of the connections she has made with her fellow nakama. Robin realises she is not living life alone, she has others which she can live alongside. As a result, when those bonds are challenged, she won’t sit idly by and let others undermine those she cares about. Robin is aware that ignorance is bliss but she is also aware that vengeance is a dish best served cold and that is exactly what Black Maria has coming for her. The Devil Child has awakened and with it, the Lotus will bloom.

[Theory] One Piece – Yamato’s Devil Fruit (Part 2)

Edit: Chapter 1020 reveals that Yamato has the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Okuchi no Makami.

I love how Yamato has been causing problems for Kaido since Oden’s execution. Even with being shackled, imprisoned to one Island for decades, and beaten each time after a challenge, Yamato never once conceded to Kaido’s plans for him. Rather Yamato’s actions were a constant reminder to Kaido that he didn’t defeat Oden and that he isn’t as sovereign as he would like himself to believe. Kaido confirms that Yamato had consumed a Devil Fruit that he viewed as valuable, one he didn’t intend for Yamato to eat. The visual appearance of Yamato’s current form may give us some ideas as to what the Devil Fruit is.

One Piece Chapter 1019 – Franky VS Sasaki: Unforeseen

One Piece chapter 1019 - Franky uses Radical Beam on Sasaki

Franky has certainly primed himself into a formidable force with the advancements of his research and application of his passion. It was by no means a pretty win for Franky but a win regardless. General Franky was damaged. Franken Blade was broken. Frank’s cola has been depleted. But Sasaki now lies unconscious on the floor bested by Franky. Another of the Beast Pirates Tobi Roppo has been defeated and only one more remains (not including Drake and discounting Page One returning to the fight).

One Piece Chapter 1016 – Nami VS Ulti: Electric Reverberation

One Piece chapter 1016 - Nami taken down Ulti with Usopp and Zeus's assistance

When it comes to protecting that which she cares for, Nami is incredibly courageous and determined. And with the addition of Zeus as her aide in channeling her powers and analytical skills, Nami now has the means to combat the opponents within the New World. In face of Ulti who continues to threaten Tama, Nami unleashes. The comments Nami directed at Ulti during their prior encounter reverberates across the castle interior and right through Ulti. Nami’s actions have conveyed exactly how serious she was. If you get on her bad side, be prepared for the consequences. Ulti underestimated her opponents and now pays the price with a defeat. The Tobi Roppo have been reduced to half their original number and the oh-so certain outcome from the CP-0’s perspective is beginning to be coloured in a shade of suspense. The tides are about to turn.

One Piece Chapter 1015 – Continue The Fight

One Piece chapter 1015 - Momonosuke relays Luffy message

Ah, what a glorious chapter. Within the inevitability of darkness, where prospects of hope and the tangibility of courage cease to exist, a glimmer piercing the veil of shadows endures. A miracle. A message. A mind unyielding to the inabilities of the past. Luffy has not lost. Luffy will not lose. Luffy refuses to lose. He will make it back to Kaido and beat him. The battle has not reached its end, it is but at a point where all hopes have gathered behind Luffy and Momonosuke. The Samurai may not know Luffy but they believe in Momonosuke and Momonosuke believes in Luffy. Every second endured is a second closer to Luffy’s return and Kaido’s defeat. Don’t give up! And Fight!

One Piece Chapter 1012 – Nami: Unwavering Resolve

One Piece chapter 1012 - Nami resolves to stand against and fight Ulti

Nami may have a tendency to fall on the side of self-preservation in the face of exceedingly powerful opponents but there are times when the spirit behind her nature draws a line. A point at which she can’t bring herself to turn and run away from. And that threshold is witnessing a child get injured in front of her. It may be a nature inherited from her mother, Bell-mère, but whenever a child in front of her needs help, Nami will not budge until she helps them. Right now, a threat to Tami exist in the form and Ulti and Nami has made it her responsibility to protect Tama by defeating Ulti. The odds may be stacked against Nami but in this moment, she stands against opponents far strongest than her because behind her is someone she needs to protect.

One Piece Chapter 1008 – Kanjuro And Orochi’s Return

One Piece chapter 1008 - Kanjuro's ink clone of Oden

It has finally been confirmed. Kanjuro and Orochi are still alive. Of course they are. From the moment their were presented as having been killed, it was obvious their deaths were only a misdirect to remove their presence from the focus of the story so that when they do reappear, a dramatic reveal could be possible. Death in One Piece for present time named characters is handled very subjectively. No matter how dead someone may appear in the story when their death scene is initially presented, if there is any ambiguity in their deaths, it is almost certain that they are still alive (looks at Vergo and Monet). The two conditions that are seemingly required before a present time named character can die are moving the plot forward substantially with their deaths and having another character(s) in the story ready to carry on their will. Neither Kanjuro or Orochi had any of that. Their reappearances more than a surprise were an expectant inevitability.
