Edens Zero Chapter 188 – Shiki VS Wizard: Breakthrough

Shiki has finally arrived at the curiosity that is Ziggy’s actions and the enigma surrounding them. Before returning to Granbell and leaving the Edens Zero, Ziggy wasn’t driven by dark intentions but he still proceeded to wipe the memories of the Four Shining Stars that related to events outside the Sakura Cosmos. Initially I believed that Ziggy intended to hide any information referencing Mother that the Four Shining Stars knew but the theory Shiki presented in regards to Ziggy expecting to fall to the dark side put the past in a whole new context. Ziggy anticipated falling to the Dark Side and in hopes of establishing a safeguard against himself, he chose to abandon his mission to find Mother and focus on developing Shiki as a counter to his power. All in order to prevent what Ziggy feared deeply – the end of coexistence.

Edens Zero Chapter 187 – Shiki VS Wizard: Blind Spot

The implications pertaining to the revelation at the end of the chapter echoes a deeper regard toward the history of the constructs of Ziggy. Why do they know each other and when did they have the chance to encounter each other? Were the Shining and Dark Stars “created” by Ziggy or transformed by him into the form they now take. Unlike any of the other robots Ziggy has created, the Shining and Dark Stars bear a close resemblance to humans in the form they take – why? Why not design your elite force to look more mechanical than human? Could it be that the Shining and Dark Stars aren’t machines by origin but in fact humans who at some point Ziggy decided to save/use by reviving their minds in a mechanical body?

[Theory] Edens Zero – How Witch Can Return Using The Chronophage

One of the most fascinating and creative aspects of Edens Zero are the existence of Chronophages which presents a unique spin on the time-travel mechanic popular in science fiction stories. Rather than tethering space and time into one encapsulating concept where time overarches all space, the Chronophage distort that reality and detaches time from the overall space, restricting it to just the space in their proximity. What this allows for are time-travel instances that don’t drag the whole world setting along with its momentum. It introduces a more manageable mechanic existing outside time paradoxes that is just as fascinating as general time travel if not more. You can have two version of a character present in the same time or a planet saved from the corruption of insatiable greed by turning its present state into a past form. Additionally, another event that is theoretically possible using the nature of the Chronophage is having a fallen character return back into the story i.e. Witch.

Edens Zero Chapter 186 – The Four Dark Stars

After a directed introduction and a sacrificial encounter with one of the Oración Seis Interstellar members, the Four Dark Stars are now set-up to face off against the main force of the Edens Zero. The way the Four Dark Stars were introduced, they were doubtlessly arranged to be foils for the Four Shining Stars in regards to their representation as programs over beings. The presence of a metaphysical heart created a divide between the versions and established a conflict requiring an answer. Were the Four Dark Stars superior because of their designs and advanced hardware? Or was the freedom present in the Four Shining Stars programming an element that defined a new path of evolution? Such a variation has become a story that is still ongoing. Even though the original Four Shining Stars are not present in the fight, I wholeheartedly hope that events would navigate themselves into seeing the Four Shining Stars match up against the Four Dark Stars.

Edens Zero Chapter 168 – Shield Of Edens: Moving Forward With You

Accepting pain is never easy but a life without pain is a life without the knowledge of joy. To know the depths of suffering allows one to appreciate the dimensions of happiness. The crew of Edens Zero may be overwhelmed by the sensation of loss but their desire to move forward expresses their resolve to focus on the feelings within their heart that evokes a smile within their being. Witch saved them and in turn they will hold onto her within their hearts and move forward always remembering her. Tears of sadness have given way to the love now driving them.

Edens Zero Chapter 167 – Shield Of Edens: Memories Of You

Life is but a string of consequences. Each action we take, each choice we make leads to an outcome that is valued through subjective interpretation. For better or for worse, our minds define the reality we exist in. The feeling of loss has a way of creating an agonizing attachment to a time free from such pain. Yet no matter how hard we try, time flows forward and what has passed has passed. The loss overwhelming the Edens Zero crew is a consequence of life that exist on the path they thread. Were the choices made really “wrong” and who can say how the alternative path sought would define itself in. All one can truly do is accept the path and move forward.

Edens Zero Chapter 166 – Shield Of Edens: My Love For You

My heart. Ah, it drowns within the sorrow of what has just taken place. It pains and yet it feels so fulfilled at the freedom, love and bonds on display. Witch chose the manner in which she lived and who she lived for. The choice was hers and those that she guarded were the most precious people to her. Her actions created a miracle and she prevented harm from reaching her family. Victory was hers. And yet, why does emptiness rush into my heart filling with grief? I am both happy and overwhelmed with sadness. The finality of the moment grates against my wishes. I love Witch’s character and never desired such a reality of loss. I wanted her to continue being the Mother of Edens Zero as well as the Shield that protects them. It hurts attempting to reconcile what has happened against my heart. Will a second miracle reveal itself?

Edens Zero Chapter 165 – Shield Of Edens: Path Forward

Faced with an impossible choice and armed with knowledge of how situations can proceed if a bad choice is made such as the time Shiki recalled being killed by Drakken Joe, it is understandable why in this moment, Shiki came to the conclusion that the risk attached to stopping the bombs was too great to commit himself toward. The information on hand lacked a level of certainty that a thread of confidence could be attached to. Gazing at the endless horizon of uncertainty the paths stretched towards, it is salient through Shiki’s actions how dismayed he felt. For someone who views the world through such a positive outlook, having to reconcile these types of decisions against his heart must hurt. But that is life and such pain can help one grow. Never stop believing Shiki. And never stop loving. The path forward may be harsh but don’t let it break you.

Edens Zero Chapter 159 – Laguna VS Ijuna: Destiny

A heart brought to the point of desperation where the desire for survival constructed the deception that was the affection Ijuna felt toward Shura. It was an escape from the agony washing over Ijuna day after day, cruelty after cruelty, torture after torture. A subconscious defensive mechanism activated alongside her Ether Gear and in the maelstrom of hopelessness and torment, a red string of ether driven by anguish connected Ijuna to Shura. The love binding Ijuna to Shura is but an illusion of emotions conjured by her despair and connection to Ether. What ultimately saved Ijuna were the tears of her heart longing for the bonds she was already connected by. Unbreakable bonds that tied Oasis together in the form of their desire for liberation. Laguna awakened Ijuna’s heart and released Ijuna from the bindings entrapping her allowing her to sever the red thread tying her to Shura. The destiny awaiting Ijuna isn’t Shura but the red destiny of Oasis.

Edens Zero Chapter 158 – Laguna VS Ijuna: Broken

I was not expecting such a dark take on the tragedy existing in Ijuna’s past. To think that what led Ijuna to commit her servitude to the Imperial Empire was not her desire to gain vengeance on Shura but rather the fragility of the human mind being brought to the point of hopelessness and despondency. In the state of perpetual torture, her psyche broke and began being shaped by the twisted narrative of despair. In the pit of darkness, Shura became her light and guided by the desire to end her suffering, her mind warped her perception to conjure illusions of affection. The nature of her pure soul became dyed by such anguish and served to fetter her mind from recalling a reality outside such torment. Ijuna was psychologically broken down and brainwashed by Shura into championing the corrupt and inhumane actions of himself and the Imperial Empire he seeks to shape.
