What an interesting revelation, so the four seated executives were the ones who set Doflamingo onto the path of revenge and fed his perception of superiority. By swearing their loyalty to Doflamingo and treating him as a King, Doflamingo grew up with the mindset that he was chosen by heaven, chosen to be a superior being. Over time, the darkness inside him was able to embrace his madness and utterly consume him. The four seated executives may have helped foster the evil within Doflamingo in order to pursue their own ends, but ultimately it was Doflamingo who used the four to fuel his own madness and obsession. As Law told Trebol, they are just puppets who strings Doflamingo is happily pulling along to his choosing. Doflamingo became the subject of their dreams and used their obsession to further his own madness.
After the moving flashback we just had it feels good seeing Law take all the emotions he has for Rosinante and channel it through the purpose he inherited from him i.e. to stop Doflamingo. Doflamingo may ultimately be Luffy’s opponent, but having the focus centered around Law and Doflamingo for the moment does serve the purpose of increasing the weight the fateful day thirteen years ago had, for both Law and Doflamingo. Law is using memories of that day to focus his wrath while Doflamingo is becoming unsettled by the day he would like to forget.
I would like to say that Doflamingo is a shallow man who is using his bitterness for being rejected by the Tenryuubito to subject others to suffering and pain, but that would be too simple for such a character as Doflamingo. He is a much more complex man, one corrupted by the world he grew up in and confused by the world he was cast into after his father decided to have the family leave Mariejois to live as “normal” humans. The contrasting lifestyle Doflamingo had to grow accustomed to was a reality a world apart from the society which he grew up in and being unable to confound the ‘right and wrong’ of the human society with the ‘right and wrong’ of the Tenryuubito society, Doflamingo grew frustrated and resentful and as a result found an answer in killing his father.
Finally, after all the suffering and pain Doflamingo has inflicted onto others, he is finally getting his just desserts, and this time in the form of a perfectly landed Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk. Hopefully this is just an appetizer for what is to come and we are treated to more of Doflamingo getting beaten in the coming chapters. Everything Doflamingo had others pay for his amusement, he should now own up and pay that all back, preferable in the form of a beating dished out by Luffy onto him. Also, Luffy and Law make one amazing tag-team, the set-up they created to open Doflamingo up was incredible.
About time Usopp threw his cowardice to the wind and got his courage together! I was waiting and waiting and waiting and now finally the unbearableness of his cowardice got through to Usopp forcing him to face his fears and stop running away. Usopp may yet still become the ‘brave warrior of the seas’ he dreams of being and amusingly he may just get that army of followers he also dreamed of having. The other legendary hero, Kyros, recalls memories of the past and the immense debt he owes King Riku. It’s tragic really, Kyros has been suffering from such a young age and even now, he is still suffering. What strength and will power lies in this man who is able to endure so much hate and negativity and still selflessly push forward with the sole intent of helping others irrespective of whether he loses his life. I can’t help but admire the man.
Well that was a great chapter, from having some doubt about Sugar’s and Trébol fighting potential as high-ranking executives within the Donquixote Pirates, this chapter has proved quite nicely that they are serious opponents and dangerous ones at that. Sad that the plan dwarves had prepared didn’t work out, but it was too be expected, nothing really works out as planned when the Strawhats are involved =D. The attention given to Robin this chapter was amazing, I loved how she drew Trébol away from Sugar and even managed to give Trébol the slip once he found out she was deceiving him.
What an compelling and enthralling chapter, my excitement has just reached dangerous levels that waiting for the next One Piece chapter to come out has become borderline unbearable. So the danger of Pica and his Devil Fruit really is in how he can manipulate the surrounding environment to his advantage, that being, using the very castle Luffy, Zoro and Viola are in to attack them. It is going to be interesting to see how Luffy, Zoro and Viola handle Pica. At the Colosseum side, ah, the full on action contained within induces me to crave after more, Rebecca is holding her own within the battle and Sabo completely showed Burgess up by nullifying his Surge Elbow and destroying his armor. I also love how Diamante is completely confused at Lucy’s current fighting style, it is going to be so sweet when Sabo takes on Diamante.
The underground trading port, so the climax there is about to be reached with Leo preparing to plant the fake grape within Sugar’s grape bowl. Hopefully the plan goes down as intended and Doflamingo’s real character is revealed to the Kingdom and its citizens.
