So he finally reveals his true self, the man capable of bleaching out the blackest black. I was waiting for this all the while wondering how exactly Yhwach will go about turning around the hopeless situation he found himself in against Ichibei. Getting overwhelmed by Ichibei was just a step in overcoming him, thanks to the ability Yhwach has in managing to understand the workings of any powers while perceiving it or so Haschwalth says. Yhwach was able to nullify Ichibei’s power on himself at the end and instantly turn the tables on the situation. I’m sure Ichibei spilling the beans regarding his abilities helped as well but I suppose even if Ichibei omitted expressing any words to Yhwach and focused solely on crushing him, the result would have still been same. Such a shame that Ichibei was forced to face such an opponent, one not able to be defeated until the main character is ready.
I wonder why the Sternritter were so surprised when Yhwach deemed them unnecessary and began to sacrifice them for those he does deem worthy. The Sternritter were probably around long enough to realise what type of person Yhwach was, especially seeing as they were around long enough to put their belief in him. Yhwach was pretty transparent in how he does things, if he doesn’t agree with something, he makes sure he is heard out, so it was expected that when he came to the conclusion that the Sternritter aren’t doing what he expected, he would put into motion a plan to remedy that and in this case it was transferring the power he bestowed on the Sternritter to those he deems worthy. With the Royal Guard on the back-foot, it seems like a great moment for Ichigo and Co. to show up and utilise some Hollow power to combat the power-up Sternritter.
And I thought it was over, how wrong I was. Yhwach’s “Elite Force” is far from defeated it seems, all thanks to Yhwach reviving them. None of the Sternritter in the Elite Force impressed me, so seeing them get up to receive another beating isn’t all that exciting, although I wonder now with Yhwach reviving them if they are stronger and/or unable to die =/. It is going to be interesting to see how explains exactly what happened and whether Yhwach can continue reviving his “Elite Force” when they are down.
So that is what Askin’s “Death Dealing” ability is, to be able to manipulate a person’s lethal dose tolerance to a substance, how fascinating. Initially I was wondering where the chapter was going when it began talking about the concept of “lethal dose”, but once Askin revealed how he would apply it in the battle against Ohetsu, it made sense. Unfortunately for Askin, he wasn’t up against just one Zero Division member, Tenjirou joined in and pretty much nullified the effect “Death Dealing” had on Ohetsu. I guess Askin only has his allies to blame for getting disposed of so easily and Yhwach for just standing there like a chump and not doing anything useful to assist.
For a moment I was wondering whether the Royal Guard/Zero Division were all that but with Senjumaru trolling the Sternritter, Kirio entrapping them and Ohetsu challenging them like a badass, I just got my answer. What a satisfying chapter that highlighted the Zero Division being nothing to laugh about, hell now I don’t even mind if they finish off Yhwach’s “Elite” Force before Ichigo and Co. arrive at the scene. With Ohetsu on the scene now, you just know something badass is about to be unleashed.
Looks like more than a few Sternritter arrived in Reioukyuu (Soul King Palace) than just Yhwach, Haschwalth, Uryuu and those fodder that were defeated earlier by Tenjirou. For another named Sternritter to be present at the scene, how exciting and what a curious ability he has, to be able to bend attacks of others. If he is here, I wonder if anymore Sternritter will make an appearance in Reioukyuu, as there are still several unassigned Sternritter letters. Anyway with Ichigo and Co. heading to Reioukyuu, I wonder how they plan to face Yhwach and handle Uryuu, who is obviously in a tough situation.
