With a Pokémon adventure comes the path of a Pokémon trainer paved by Gym Battles and badges. As is with previous installments, the player needs to train their Pokémon and challenge the Gyms within the region to earn one of the many badges needed before facing off against the Pokémon Champion of the region. In Sword and Shield, Leon is the Pokémon Champion and eight Gym badges needed to be held before being able to face him for the title of Champion.

Within Pokémon Sword and Shield there is an area in the game where wild Pokémon roam aplenty and the Dynamax ability central to the Galar region is on full display through certain dwellings of wild Pokémon. That area is the Wild Area. An open region where you will find yourself spending most of your time discovering the wild Pokémon, treasures left behind by other trainers and travelers, earning Watts to spend on items sold by different vendors and many other activities.

Kalos’s Elite Four: Wikstrom, Seibold, Drasna, and Malva, plus the Pokémon Champion Diantha
Finally got myself all eight badges from the gym leaders and was able to enter the Pokémon League and challenge the Elite Four. The road to the Elite Four – Victory Road was quite the long one, especially since those caves contained so many paths you could travel to retrieve the items hidden throughout the zone. The cave triggering random battles on top of the challenges from other trainers did make the journey take quite some time, especially since I only ended up using “Repel” to avoid random battles near the end of the cave. Still was able to get some nice levels for my Pokémon =D.
The Legendary Pokémon Xerneas
I finally came across this Legendary Pokémon as I worked to stopped Team Flare from accomplishing their questionable goals. I was tempted to use my only Master Ball I had, but I opted against that thought and instead drained Xerneas down into the red and proceeded to capture it with a Great Poké Ball. I am extremely excited I have finally come across the poster face of Pokémon X, been waiting for this encounter since I bought the game. Now that I have it, one of my other Pokémon which I am quite fond of has to be sidelined =( – ended up sidelining my Blaziken for now.
Bonding with your Pokémon through the use of the Pokémon Amie feature
Along with progressing through the story of Pokémon X through collecting my gym badges and thwarting Team Flare’s attempts to gather valuable resources in their possession, I have been playing the Pokémon Amie and Super Training features. Effectively Pokémon Amie lets players interact with their Pokémon using the 3DS’ touchscreen and camera, playing with them and giving them treats to strengthen their bonds, ultimately affecting the way the Pokémon acts during battle. I was curious how Pokémon would act during battles, so when I noticed one of my Pokémon with two Pokémon Amie hearts getting excited before a Pokémon battle began, I became even more curious about the Pokémon Amie feature.
The antagonist group of Pokémon X, Team Flare – by baruch97
Up to six gym badges now; Bug, Cliff, Rumble, Plant, Voltage and Fairy badges. The Plant gym was quite straight forward with my main Pokémon being a fire type (Delphox). The Voltage and Fairy type gyms were also quite simple as my Pokémon were 12+ levels higher than the Pokémon I faced at the gym – ah the rewards of fighting 95% of the battles I come across =P. Beyond the Pokémon gym battles, the other main story element being driven currently is Team Flare and their unrevealed goal.

I am seriously engrossed in Pokémon X now, I find myself looking forward to continuing my journey across Kalos and capturing as many Pokémon as I can whenever I am not playing Pokémon X. There is just something completely enchanting about progress and seeing your Pokémon grow, evolve and gain new abilities through the challenges you face within your journey. It’s enjoyable, compelling and even after hours of play, the game remains shockingly fresh and full of life. Even though I have only just gotten my third gym badge (the Rumble Badge) from the gym leader Korrina, I have accumulated so many hours of game play and I feel like I can spend a lot more time in my journey in Pokémon X.
A new adventure to catch ’em all begins!
It’s been ages since I played a Pokémon game, over twelve years now since I last played it – Pokémon Blue and a bit of Pokémon Yellow. While I wasn’t able to max out my Blastoise’s level in Pokémon Blue, I was still able to defeat all the gym leaders and get most of my main Pokémon into the level 80 regions. I remember it being extremely fun and quite the adventure, but hahah, it sure did take time exploring, leveling and catching Pokémon.
Anyway I ended up getting Pokémon X for my 3DS and I am glad I did, this game is a lot of fun and I have begun to notice that exploring and catching Pokémon are only some of the features Pokémon games offer these days. Pokémon Amie, Pokémon Super Training, the Pokémon Daycare, the berry farm, Pokémon Societies, ability to change your trainers outfit, and most likely a ton of more features I haven’t even come across yet in Pokémon. There is so much more to do in Pokémon now and amusingly, more often than not, you will find yourself distracted by these features when trying to progress through the story, I know I have =P.
