One Piece Chapter 1062 – The [VI] Vegapunk

What a curious development, the mystery surrounding Vegapunk is even more fascinating than I initially suspected. Rather than something as simple as cloning or biological legacy, he instead split himself into six forms to cover more areas of research and potentially make it more difficult for his “enemies” to fully discard of him later on. It is unclear when Vegapunk exactly devised such a methodology but based on how events progressed through the story, I feel certain that Vegapunk only segmented himself after the events on Punk Hazard with Caesar i.e. around 2-4 years ago.

One Piece Chapter 1036 – Luffy VS Kaido: New Generation

The Beast Pirate All Stars and Tobi Roppo have been defeated and all that remains are Kaido, Big Mom, Kazenbo, Fukurokuju, Orochi and the CP-0. The new generation are currently handling Kaido and Big Mom with Yamato rushing to the armory to prevent Kazenbo from igniting the explosives and weaponry. Raizou will take care of Fukurokuju with Hiyori and potentially Denjirou handling Orochi. Outside of these, the most pressing issue are the movements of the CP-0 and their actions relative to the Straw Hat Pirates. The CP-0 sense a potential problem arising with the new generation pirates overwhelming the Beast Pirates. Rather than be caught unprepared with their pants down, the CP-0 have decided to focus on procuring Nico Robin and dealing with the Straw Hat Pirates after they are weakened. Unbeknownst to the CP-0 are the developments taking place atop the Onigashima Skull Dome where Luffy and Kaido are gaining an appreciation for their opponents. As excitement swells up inside their hearts, a connection begins to form that will inevitably end up collapsing the future plans of the CP-0.

[Theory] One Piece – The Ice Oni Plague And The Yuki Yuki No Mi

I find it curious that Queen only ended up developing such a plague now when a Devil Fruit user who utilises power similar to the Ice Oni Plague’s effects recently fell. Vegapunk in the past was able to isolate the powers of a Logia Devil Fruit and weaponise it. Queen could have potentially did the same with the Ice Oni Plague using a frost-specific Logia Devil Fruit user as a base i.e. the Yuki Yuki no Mi user, Monet.

All major powers within the New World are rushing to acquire resources and talents that utilises the power of science. Be it the Marines who have established the Special Science Group led by Vegapunk to fill the void left by the dissolution of the Shichibukai. Or Big Mom who planned a massive wedding to lure the Germa Kingdom in so that she could betray them and steal their cloning technology and scientific resources. Following along with that, it would make sense if Kaido had his own branch within the Beast Pirates that focused on weapons created by science and this is where Queen likely comes in. If Queen were part of the rogue research group Vegapunk and Judge (along with Caesar as the apprentice/assistant) belonged to in the past, it would help support Kaido’s confidence in his organisation and explain the lack of effort he has made to acquire additional scientific knowledge or resources.

[Theory] One Piece – Monet Undercover: Punk Hazard

When you think about how the relationship between Monet and Caesar began it starts to become curious when exactly it did commence. The story implies Monet joined Caesar after he escaped the Marines and returned to Punk Hazard but when you look deeper into that narration, certain discrepancies arise. Would it not be odd if after escaping the Marines and fleeing back to Punk Hazard a year later a stranger Caesar has never met before arrived on an Island that should not exist housing the government’s former secret research facility and requested to work for him? Regardless of Caesar’s twisted nature, he is still a genius and would immediately be suspect of such a person if not kill them on the spot. It is just suspicious. Such a narration really doesn’t add up when looking at the relationship Monet and Caesar shared throughout the Punk Hazard Arc.

[Theory] One Piece – Monet Undercover: The Beast Pirates

Seeing as the Beast Pirates were susceptible to spies joining their ranks or affiliates (X Drake and Kyoshiro), other factions may have sent undercover agents to join the Beast Pirates. One person I can see stationing a member of their crew within the Beast Pirates to keep tabs on Kaido and his actions is Doflamingo. It has been established already how shrewd a man Doflamingo is and the extents he goes to in order to protect himself and his status. Information was one of Doflamingo’s most powerful weapons. It allowed him to become a Shichibukai and to keep the World Government at bay and semi-subservient to him (using the CP-0 to trick Law into believing he quit being a Shichibukai). Doflamingo had Monet go undercover in the Dressrosa Palace prior to their invasion and on Punk Hazard to keep eyes on Caesar, a partner in his dealings with Kaido. Given all that Doflamingo has done, it seems natural he would also have had someone positioned at one point in time undercover in the Beast Pirates.

[Theory] One Piece – Doflamingo’s Undercover Agent: Monet

The keeper of chaos. The broker of darkness. The agent of secrets. The mediator of devastation. The supplier of power. The shadow of the Tenryuubito. Whatever mechanisations were ongoing within the New World, Doflamingo before his fall had his hand turning it. And even now, bound by chains of seastone and locked away on the sixth level of Impel Down, Doflamingo still holds relevance within the events unfolding in the story due to the gaping void left by his departure as Joker. But prior to his defeat, the instruments enabling him to hold such a position were the operatives of his family allowing access to key information necessary for critical decision-making. And among the officers Doflamingo employed, one of his most valuable was the undercover agent Monet.

One Piece Chapter 989 – The Straw Hat Pirates Assemble

Betraying every underestimation cast upon them by the rulers of the sea, the Straw Hat Pirates break through the arrogance of the Yonko and stamp their existence deeply within the Yonko’s rage. With the ripples of their presence ignored until impossible, chaos has taken over and erupted because of them. Right now, with the identity of the age on the brink, they have gathered. The Straw Hat Pirates have finally assembled. All ten current members. And Luffy has his sight set firmly on Kaido with the intention of sending him flying. The Beast Pirates who impede his path become the targets of the Straw Hat Pirates. War has begun. And the challengers have made their move.

[Timeline] One Piece – Monet

Given this being the day of Monet, I thought it would be fun and insightful to create a timeline for Monet’s story based on what we know so far. While Monet featured primarily only in the Punk Hazard Arc, he role in certain events were critical for her crew. There are also periods of unknown within Monet’s past that would be interesting to have explored, especially with her taking on the role of an undercover agent once she joined the Donquixote Pirates. Besides Dressrosa and Punk Hazard, did Doflamingo have her infiltrate other factions for him?

One Piece Chapter 984 – The Daughter Of Kaido

Wow. Just wow. Even though I expected such a twist, the reality of the twist subjecting its contours and possibility onto my psyche has me electrified at the potential avenues in terms of development this reveal just brought about. The thought (Yamato’s identity) crossed me mind. I entertained it shallowly but cast its existence into the realm of improbability in favour of a flow more coloured in “actuality” but the sheer fantasy of the possibility existed within my mind. How euphoric it feels, that something so delusional and unlikely has manifested itself into substance. I dare hope more possibilities guised under the veil of impossibility be more than what we as the readers are intentionally “misled” to believe.

One Piece Chapter 847 – Big Mom’s Library

My goodness, how many poor souls are trapped inside those books?

Big Mom’s definitely gone and done it now, uttering that very phrase in front of Luffy which has spelt the doom of a many who have come before. Despite the situation, despite the gap in power, despite the difference in status, despite the numbers, despite the varying experiences, whenever anyone challenges Luffy to the title of the Pirate King, a raging fire ignites within him subsequently consuming those challenging him. Big Mom has made a mistake, keeping Luffy alive has just sealed her fate. Once Luffy is free, he won’t let things slide; on top of Big Mom being a danger to Fishman Island, on top of Big Mom taking Sanji away, she now stands in Luffy way on the path to becoming Pirate King. And lets not forget, once Luffy finds out what Big Mom did to Jinbe, he will not forgive her.
