Fairy Tail (Manga) – The Fairy Within Our Hearts

Fairy Tail may not delve into themes as deep as identity and existentialism or analysis the philosophy of freedom and responsibility against the constructs of religion and society and it may not challenge the darker themes it does begin to voyage into but what Fairy Tail does have is heart, and a lot of it. It’s emotionally powerful scenes drive the story, the character development and the characters themselves. The encouraging touch of its embrace resonances deep within the reader, inspiring connections with the characters alive in its story and struggling through its world to be formed. And central to that evocation is the heart of the story; the guild Fairy Tail.

The heart is a miraculous existence that allows us to connect to others, to share our emotions with them and to have emotions shared with us. And yet, along with the joy it is able to conjure, the shadows of its rhythm also awakens a darker beat of love. A realm of negativity in which the echoes of optimism and bonds of relation can be submerged and lost within. Such concepts are the navigating expressions embodying the adventures and journeys within Fairy Tail. Characters lose themselves within their pain, torment and heart yet through their shared connection with others, they are able to accept the debilitating thoughts within their mind and embrace the warmth of their imperfections.

Fairy Tail Chapter 518 – Erza And Irene

In a state of utter dismay and hatred, Irene bears her enchantments and claws at her very own daughter seeking to ease the despair gnawing away at the shadows of her mind. Fueled by rage and the madness overwhelming her, Irene unleashes her Dragon form and summons a meteorite to crush Erza beneath. Erza in turn acknowledging her mother’s misfortune underlying her sins conveys the spirit she inherited from her mother in the form of an act intended to stop her mother. Will the disconnection between the two finally find a common ground?

Fairy Tail Chapter 516 – Irene’s Despair

The fate of the Dragon Slayers leads to an end scorched in chaos and lamented by torment as the doomed plays spectator to their vanishing humanity powerless to prevent. With the essence of the Dragons coursing through them, the overwhelming Dragon presence within each Dragon Slayer eventually consumes them transforming the bearer into a Dragon with their human sides lost within the maelstrom of rage. The only way past that fate is to silence the Dragon essence within through the use of a power even more overwhelming – with the essence of a Dragon seeking to protect them from being consumed.

Fairy Tail Chapter 435-436 – Zeref And Natsu

Rather than Zeref becoming a villain, he found himself having to play such a role

The strangest things really do occur when you least expect it. Definitely was not expecting an in depth look into Zeref’s past and certainly not any information on Natsu’s origins, but it all makes sense now, how exactly Natsu connects in with Zeref. I now understand why Zeref is fond of Natsu and why Zeref has cast himself into the role of being the annihilator of all humans. Zeref may not desire such an outcome, but the end which can be brought about by such an outcome warrants the need to follow such a path. Zeref wishes to die, but is unable to, the contradictory curse governing him has forced him to walk a path he may not want in order to reach a result he truly desires. The duty Zeref speaks of is of being a villain evil enough so that it inspires a hero strong enough to end him to finally appear – Natsu.

Fairy Tail Chapter 404 – The Approaching Calamity

Residing within the flow of magic after being reduced to emptiness, Erza overwhelms Kyouka

In the end the timer does reach 00:00, but as for the Faces activating across the continent, I wonder about that, they could have been stopped by the other groups of mages active trying to avoid the nullification of magic across the continent or Lumen Histoire could be used to counter the effects of the Magic Pulse Bombs. Regardless, you got to hand it to Kyouka, she gave it her all to make sure the timer ticked down and actually did succeed in buying enough time, though I do wonder if the Faces will really activate, after all they may be met with an Error 404 O.o.

Fairy Tail Chapter 401-403 – The Light Beyond Form

Beyond the five senses…

Reduced to nothingness and numbed of sensation, the world before one turns to darkness, yet within that formless stream of existence and space, the magic of one’s soul manifest into a light connecting their being to the endless depths of the world. Broken down and stripped of her five senses, Erza manifest her spirit into a light capable of residing within the flow of the world, ultimately awakening a sensation beyond form.

Fairy Tail Chapter 399 – Acnologia Appears

I don’t see any of the current arc characters being able to stand up against Acnologia, not even Mard Geer

And so the darkness thick in despair invades the skies and hearts sensitive to such terror find themselves shaken by the realisation of its appearance. Unexpected and inconceivable, the King of Dragons arrives in front of the humans and demons for a purpose yet to be revealed but one which will have serious repercussions for the fate and the state of the world.

What a cute and unique way Erza has of handling situations. Even though she may appear cold and brutal when being strict, it comes off in such a loving and embracing way that you can’t help but admire the way she tackles problems. Even in situations where Erza handles it in such absurd and unorthodox ways, the sincere and natural smile she wears makes you accept her strangeness as being one of her charming points. Erza truly is a unique and radiantly memorable character.

So that is what Tartarus is after hunting down these former Magic Council members, to seize control over one of the magic weapons developed by them – Face, and to prevent any other magic weapon from being activated. Face would effectively allow Tartarus to render all magic on the continent useless and open the door for them to seize control over the surface world with their curses. It is a cunning plan, but unfortunately for them, they went and chose the continent with Fairy Tail on.
