Edens Zero Chapter 155 – Kris & Kleene VS Callum & Lyra: Winds Of Eden

Edens Zero Chapter 155 - Kris and Kleene, the winds of Edens Zero

The desire to grab ahold of the future present before them. The desire to continue being free. The desire to protect the home they have found. The Rutherford siblings have come to cherish the space in the cosmos they have found themselves in. And driven by the happiness they have experienced, they resolve to use their wind to uplift their comrades and carry the Edens forward into future they wish to be a part of. In the face of such spirits, Callum and Lyra can do little to exploit their Ether and ultimately succumbed to the weakness born from their hubris. A weakness steeped in their reliance over manipulating their opponents Ether.

Edens Zero Chapter 154 – Kris & Kleene VS Callum & Lyra: Mist

Edens Zero chapter 154 - Kris and Kleene VS Callum and Lyra

And the roar of the Wind is deafened by the weight of the Mist. An unexpected reunion uncovering memories from Kris’s past from his time at the Skymech Dojo throws Kris into an unstable position with memories of his past influencing his actions against the opponent before him. Not only was it shocking to learn that the Skymech Dojo was based on Guilst at one point but that Callum was a member of the Dojo too when Kris attended it as Jinn. Such a relation characterized by the seniority of Callum won’t be inconsequential to the behaviour of Kris within this battle. Callum is not just an opponent Kris can fight with a closed heart. Regardless of how distant they were during their time in the Skymech Dojo, there were connected by a shared experience.

Edens Zero Chapter 153 – Rebecca VS Lyra: Cognitive Perspective

Edens Zero chapter 153 - Rebecca reveals the five that Lyra couldn't have drawn

Despite the warped narrative dictating the Lost Card Game, Rebecca was successfully able to negate the influence Lyra had over the game by psychologically cornering her and shining light on her deceptive actions. In the face of Lyra’s intentions, Rebecca did manage to bring the game back to a battle of psychology to outwit and outplay Lyra. Accustomed to reactions of despair and hollow victories, Lyra intentionally conditioned herself to wholly rely on her Ether Gear to determine the outcome within the Lost Card Game. Unbeknownst to Lyra though, use of Ether Gear powers can go both ways. Rebecca’s Cat Leaper power allowed her the opportunity to test a theory and acquire evidence to corner Lyra as a cheater. After Lyra’s first lost to Nero, she should have known better than hubristically believing she was immune to losing. Alas, the cat is out of the bag so to speak and Rebecca has psychologically won the battle in the Lost Card Game.

Edens Zero Chapter 152 – Rebecca VS Lyra: Card Manipulation

Edens Zero chapter 152 - Rebecca chooses her card

What should be chance and a test of psychology instead colours itself in an unnerving air of fabrication. Rebecca’s attempts to out-play Lyra within the Lost Card Game falls deftly within the scope of Lyra’s narration. The notion of ‘game’ within the title is a laughable misrepresentation of the actual events ongoing. There is little fair play being had. The only losses Lyra suffers are those chosen by her to construct a ‘game’ that invokes a hollow reverberation of entertainment. Beyond the misleading setting of the game, Ether Powers are deceptively used behind the scenes to design the outcome sought. The particular game and rule-set were chosen by Lyra for reason rather than a physical bout. Outside of combat, Lyra’s abilities more than likely benefits from such structure. With Rebecca introduced to such a possibility, how will she exercise her observations into her deductions? The revelation that Lyra lost once conveys that the Lost Card isn’t unbeatable. If anyone can fight a route to victory in such a game, it is Rebecca (and Happy).

Edens Zero Chapter 151 – Rebecca VS Lyra: Lost Card Game

Edens Zero chapter 151 - Lyra reveals the ominous nature of the Lost Card Game

A game setting that seemingly extends into horror with the apparent structure set-up by Lyra. Beyond the obvious appeal of the initial rules, would the Aoi Cosmos audience really consider the loss of limbs an act of entertainment? Surely not. Which implies that the meaning Rebecca interpreted Lyra’s words as may not have been their exact meaning. The word that Lyra used that triggered Rebecca’s traumatic experience from her consciousness travel moment before was the word ‘lost’. Did Lyra intend to convey the destruction of her body or something else? When Lyra mentions ‘lost’, could she be expressing something less permanent? What Rebecca is envisioning isn’t exactly what Lyra has in mind.

Edens Zero Chapter 150 – Weisz VS Nasseh: Architect

Edens Zero chapter 150 - Weisz defeats Nasseh

It’s easy to forget that Weisz existed in a different time from the current one and that he is in fact an incredible genius. Weisz’s casual and crude demeanor belies his actual aptitude. I don’t blame Nasseh for being fooled by Weisz and not expecting such capabilities. Nasseh genuinely underestimated Weisz and got burned for it.

Edens Zero Chapter 149 – Alternate Eden

Edens Zero chapter 149 - Rebecca wakes up in an alternate future timeline

Electrical signals, huh? That is how Nasseh is able able to configure the Ether of his targets to conform to his instructions by inserting his own Ether program within the electrical signals. How curious. Aside from blocking the signal, would disrupting it also work? With Nasseh’s “hypnosis” nullified, he has resorted to fighting Weisz mecha to mecha. As for Rebecca, she has sent her consciousness forward into a branch of time that has been referred to by a certain character, the ‘worst possible future’. What is the relevance of such a timeline and Rebecca’s presence there?

Edens Zero Chapter 147 – Oceans 6: Lyra And Nasseh

Edens Zero chapter 147 - Lyra, the new commander of Shura's forces

More members of the Oceans 6 begin to move targeting the Edens Zero team that they are aware of whom have snuck inside the Nero 66 facility. As first impressions go about the personality of Lyra and Nasseh, I can’t help but notice the hubris emanating from their dialogue and composure. Elevated they are by their own power that the prospect of a challenge has ceased to exist as a possibility within their minds. The Oceans 6 shown within this chapter carry themselves as the next step of Aoi Cosmos warriors. Powerful they may be but contained within a regulated bubble they have existed, at least in terms of their time within the Imperial Army. The universe is vast with impossibility only a word.
