In the end the timer does reach 00:00, but as for the Faces activating across the continent, I wonder about that, they could have been stopped by the other groups of mages active trying to avoid the nullification of magic across the continent or Lumen Histoire could be used to counter the effects of the Magic Pulse Bombs. Regardless, you got to hand it to Kyouka, she gave it her all to make sure the timer ticked down and actually did succeed in buying enough time, though I do wonder if the Faces will really activate, after all they may be met with an Error 404 O.o.
Reduced to nothingness and numbed of sensation, the world before one turns to darkness, yet within that formless stream of existence and space, the magic of one’s soul manifest into a light connecting their being to the endless depths of the world. Broken down and stripped of her five senses, Erza manifest her spirit into a light capable of residing within the flow of the world, ultimately awakening a sensation beyond form.
And so the darkness thick in despair invades the skies and hearts sensitive to such terror find themselves shaken by the realisation of its appearance. Unexpected and inconceivable, the King of Dragons arrives in front of the humans and demons for a purpose yet to be revealed but one which will have serious repercussions for the fate and the state of the world.
How amusing, I was expecting Natsu to have some hand in defeating the remaining members of Tartarus, but it looks like his role is completely reserved for the final antagonist of this arc. Regarding Face, it looks like Keith’s defeat wasn’t the end of the plan, Sayla utilised her macros to animated Crawford and continue the activation of Face. With the threat of around 3,000 magic pulse bombs being activated simultaneously, it is going to be exciting to see how Erza takes on Kyouka, what Wendy has planned for the other magic guilds and what Makarov is going to do with Lumen Histoire.
I can’t tell if Marde Guille is extremely powerful or if he is just foolishly overconfident. Certainly he does boast some impressive power with that Alegria spell he cast which practically almost defeated Fairy Tail in an instant but with the way he is ridiculing humans, you just know that he is going to inevitable get a taste of what it feels like to get burned by those he is grossly underestimating. Cube being revealed as some massive beast which became a “prison” of sorts for the Fairy Tail members was an intense development, but it is interesting that out of everyone, Lucy was the only Fairy Tail member to remain unaffected by “Brute Grim” and the Alegria spell. With Marde Guille being limited in how he can use Alegria, it will be interesting to see what happens with Lucy still moving.
Everything has become a lot more tense and exciting now with a timer being placed on Face’s activation. Within these 41 minutes until Face activates and all magic onn the continent is rendered null, can Fairy Tail defeat the Tartarus members opposing them and stop Face from activating? And will Jellal, Meredy and Oración Seis have a further role within this arc? Beyond the developments of Face though, who is this E.N.D. Zeref mentioned, the greatest demon “book” of he created? Why couldn’t Igneel kill him and why will Natsu be faced by such an extreme choice when encountering E.N.D.? Whatever happens within these 41 minutes and after, it feels like something significant is going to be changed.
So Kyouka really was captured, I was half-expecting Minerva and Jackal to show up and take on Erza and Natsu respectively, buying time for Kyouka to escape and devise a plan B for the current situation i.e. disengaging the gravity on the undercube. Well that didn’t happen but it was amusing seeing Erza payback Kyouka’s earlier hospitality. I enjoyed seeing Erza’s new requip armor and weapon, though I hope this battle with Kyouka isn’t over yet. Kyouka has been portrayed as an important antagonist this arc, seemingly the head of the Kyuukimon (Nine Demon Gates), so it does seem likely that she will not be defeated just yet. Well now that there is a breach in the undercube, it is time for Fairy Tail to push forward their counter attack and hopefully avoid whatever terrors Zeref, who encounters Natsu, has in store for them inside.
What an incredible chapter, I enjoyed every single panel of it, from Tartarus’s wide self-satisfied smiles to seeing it slowly turn to faces filled with worry, concern and unease as Fairy Tail does the unexpected shocking the conceit right out of the demons attitude. Cana was particularly badass this chapter along with Mira and Erza. I was expecting Cana to borrow and use Fairy Glitter to do something about the lacrima explosion but she surprised me by relying on her own Card Magic, which I had totally underestimated, and found a way to get all the Fairy Tail members in the building out of harms way. Was also great seeing Happy, Carla and Patherlily helping out with the escape plan – the cat really does have Tartarus’s tongue =P. Mira and Erza turning the tables on their captives was badass, looking forward to the next chapter a lot and seeing them in action =D.
Oh Kyouka, I love how she reacted when she realised she may have been a little too hasty in killing Crawford and losing the ability to activate Face remotely, that being, not much concern at all =P. Still what an intensely exciting chapter; Minerva’s demon metamorphosis is complete, something ominous is about to happen to Mira, Cana finds Elfman setting the lacrima, Face is above Magnolia, and the real twist of the chapter, the Fairy Tail building EXPLODES! That cliff hanger really has me hungry for more Fairy Tail, can’t wait for the next issue!
Well that was an epic chapter, fist-pumpingly, excitement-satisfyingly epic. Goodness, I can’t stop smiling. Just when I thought things were looking bad for Fairy Tail, Natsu, like a raging inferno, ignites the skies with his anger and rains molten fury down on Tartarus. An amazingly set-up entrance executed epically by Mashima-sensei, Natsu was such a badass this chapter. More relevantly though, we find out that the last surviving mage related to the seal on Face is Jellal.
