Ryokugyu arrives and his first stop is the Prison Mines holding the captured Beast Pirates. In order to vent and likely silence Queen and King for the scientific and historic knowledge they possess, he took out all the Beast Pirates present there absorbing their life force in the process. It is unclear if the Beast Pirates were all killed by Ryokugyu but he does seem like a guy who doesn’t understand mercy. On top of being able to absorb others life force, Ryokugyu is also able to instill within other forms life. As he walks across the barren lands of Wano, life flourishes and springs to forth. It’s a curious power that gift life but within the hands of Ryokugyu, it serves a very foreboding darkness. One that has targeted Luffy.

Many a times was the knock of destiny cast unto the gates of the era yet such an inevitable echo went unheard by those disillusioned with the thrones they imprisoned themselves on. Change is inevitable with the motion of time yet rather than embrace such a reality, it was their hubris that changed to conceal the truth right before their eyes. Power is dangerous. The Yonko are indeed the titans of the current age whom influence macro and micro decisions of varying factions existing across the Grand Line. When you have someone like Big Mom who destroyed one of the leaders of the Elbaf Giants as a child and continues to threaten the role of the Marines through her dealings with the Underworld and her pursuit of becoming Pirate King, it is little wonder why her name evokes terror whenever whispered. And beyond Charlotte Linlin there is Kaido, Shanks and Teach. Each of these mysterious characters are elevated to the positions they hold by the power they possess. Their name, status and reputation ensured any challenge directed their way was kept to a minimum. But it is this hubris that blinded them to the true threat of the Worst Generation. Even now, Big Mom rejects such a reality. Her biggest and most severe misstep she has taken in her tenure as a Yonko is underestimating the opponents currently before her. The defiance Law and Kid have expressed has literally stopped Big Mom in her tracks.

One Piece Chapter 1029 – Killer VS Hawkins: Wheel Of Fortune

What seemingly appeared a hopeless situation with Killer backed into a corner turned into a moment of inspiration where Killer discovered an unforeseen weakness in Hawkin’s Straw Man ability. If nothing exist on the Straw Man target in the place the damage accorded, the injury suffered by Hawkins will not transfer over, rather it will be sustained by Hawkins himself. Using such a supposition, Killer created the path on which Hawkin’s defeat resided. Killer spun the wheel of fortune with his actions and achieved a turning point. Kid is now free from Hawkins’s ability and the pain that was consuming him. The collapse of the Yonko are now on the cards and a new way forward is a destiny awaiting all.

One Piece Chapter 981 – The Return Of The Phoenix

With the Straw Hat Pirates and their allies up against such formidable adversaries, it was always a question of who else will join the arc to assist them in taking down the Yonko and their crews. Kaido and Linlin haven’t existed for so long as Yonko because of luck or incompetency on the part of the World Government, they earned the reputation they have and the fear they strike in any individual with the mere mention of their name. By only allying with the rookies who have entered the New World in search of One Piece, the Straw Hat Pirate Alliance was never going to have enough strength and capability to take down the Yonko and their seasoned crews. A long term plan such as the one Law implemented was needed and so to were influential and powerful associates. At this point in time, the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance desperately need more allies and fortunately for them, Nekomamushi has returned to Wano Kuni with Marco and Izo.

One Piece Chapter 980 – Assault On Onigashima Castle

Unable to bear the ire welling up inside at the sight of precious food being wasted that is desperately needed by the residents of Okobore Town and those like them, Luffy has expressed his abhor for the actions of the Beast Pirates by unleashing on them. Expectantly, Luffy’s actions has drawn attention to himself including the curiosity of Zoro who amusingly liberated himself from his restrictions and consequently sliced a building apart that was blocking his straight-line path to the source of the chaos. Luffy and Zoro’s behaviour in turn have attracted the perception of Scratchmen Apoo, who after having identified the two proceeds to attempt to capture them. Unaware of how Apoo’s abilities work, Luffy and Zoro fall prey to his sound attacks and as a result of fighting too much uncertainty the two decide to avoid direct confrontations and instead opt to force their way through to the Castle. What this chapter has demonstrated wholly is how unprepared Luffy and Zoro are and why the inclusion of Jinbe, someone who educates himself on the knowledge of the situation and his opponents, was such a necessary development.

To think that Kamazou was Killer. I did not consider that in the slightest but given Kamazou’s bandaged body and face, it makes sense that it was a character already introduced but to think that the logical, cool-headed Killer was broken down into a crazed headhunter who has no issue with chasing down a defenseless girl and woman and cutting them down. The psychological damage done to Killer must have been seriously deep for him to reach a point where he agreed to commit such acts. Was Killer blackmailed into such a state with the false promise of returning his emotions back him or with the safety of the other Kid pirates? Whatever has happened, Killer has been cursed with the side effects of the SMILE Devil Fruit and his tears at the end of the chapter convey exactly how destroyed he is at what has been done to him.
