Naruto Chapter 699 – “Shinobi”

This chapter took me a journey through Sasuke’s heart and allowed me to open up and gain a deeper appreciation for Sasuke as a character

It is quite unbelievable but prior to this chapter I was feeling detached and uninspired by the way Naruto was concluding and how the Naruto and Sasuke battle fitted in with the rest of the story, but just through this chapter, all those mixed emotions I had concerning the end of the Naruto came together and connected. This chapter dispelled the confusion I had towards the way Naruto was ending and put me in a state of mind where I could do nothing else but love the way Naruto was concluding. Sasuke expressing his true feelings was definitely the highlight for this chapter for me, it revealed a whole new dimension to his character I had never seen before and I found myself loving how he came around full circle again after his journey through the story of Naruto.

Naruto Chapter 689 – Team 7 VS Kaguya

That was quite the exhilarating battle which featured all the members of Team 7 (save Sai) in one way or another in trying to successfully immobilize Kaguya to begin sealing her. Despite Kaguya’s best attempts in trying to slither away from the barrage of attacks and counter attacks, everything she defended and attacked with was just unable to stop the strength of Konoha’s team 7. With her on the edge of being sealed, will she be able to get herself out of this situation or is this really the end of Kaguya? And what about the Shinju, when will it finally show up in its true complete form?

I did have a feeling that Obito would end up giving Kakashi both his Sharingan, but as of chapter 687 when Obito crumbled into ashes, I discarded such a possibility. Who would have thought that Obito would use chakra and his Kamui ability to force his spirit back towards the physical realm to send whatever chakra his body had remaining into Kakashi to manifest both his Mangekyo Sharingan in Kakashi’s eyes. Obito, even when dead, refuses to stop fighting, one has to admire that about him, he is doing everything he possibly can and more to save the world.

It is said that ‘circumstances don’t make a man, they reveal one’ and that is exactly what happened to Obito in the current chapter. Obito may have walked away from his principles and dreams when he encountered Madara and after he lost so much, but through all that and the circumstances he has faced, he has now awakened to who he really is. From a lost soul hoping for destruction and delusion, to one now aware of the voice in his heart and soul, Obito has manifested the resolve to walk in front of everyone on this path filled with darkness and pain in order to lead them all into a reality less destructive than the one he suffered in.

Obito…after everything he has been through, used and abused, it is great how at the very end he has found out who he really is and what he can really do to fulfil the wishes he had for himself and the wishes Rin had for him. Through the path Naruto has revealed to him, Obito is now ready to put his life on the line and help clear it for everyone else. Even if death embraces him after this, Obito has prepared himself to accept his sins, he has found his own way to fulfil his nindou.

Oh so Kaguya didn’t place them under a genjutsu but instead transported them to a different dimension, how fascinating, I wonder what the current dimension they are in is and what other dimensions she is able to travel to. Given that Kaguya is so overwhelmingly powerful, it is going to be interesting to see how Naruto and Sasuke manage to overcome her. Will the suggested conflict within Kaguya end up being her saving grace? Or will Naruto have to end her permanently? Whatever the case, so much is unknown about Kaguya, her intentions and her past that is difficult to understand her character and motives completely.

I don’t get Madara, he is inciting war, conflict, and hatred just so he can “end” it? Does he seriously think the end he seeks justifies the methods and his actions towards reaching it? And the “actual end” that he does seek in an artificially empty one which robs people of the very thing that Madara himself is trying to reach – “life”. I am continually finding myself overwhelmed by the absurdity of the way several Uchiha members think. Rather than helping to solve the problem Madara is just multiplying it with his delusion that he himself is the savior of the world. Madara is just a propagator of conflict.

I had a feeling this was coming, especially given the insane power Madara now wields, but seeing it start to happen is bringing a frown to my face. Guy-sensei! It is a given that Guy has to release all eight gates if he hopes to combat Madara on some level of equality, but as has been foreshadowed during the explanation of the eight gates during the Chuunin Exam Arc, releasing all eight gates puts too much strain on the individual’s body and pushes it to the point that surviving is highly unlikely. Ah, it is going to be one explosion of youth and courage next chapter when Guy goes head to head with Madara.

Naruto Chapter 666 – Saving Naruto

I am not have been a fan of how Obito wound up following Madara, but I love how he is giving his all to save Naruto now

What a fantastic chapter, I’ve been waiting for this moment in which Obito gets a chance to redeem himself for being such a bastard since meeting Madara and getting all vengeful. It is impressive that Obito can move around so much given what has just been through – having the Bijuu removed from him, but I suppose Obito is an Uchiha after all, one of the strongest. I loved how Kishimoto-sensei incorporated Kakashi in the battle as well, seeing Obito and Kakashi team-up once again was spine-tingling awesome, it almost makes me forget how villainous Obito has been in the past two decades. But the past is the past and not what is happening currently, right now Obito is putting himself out there and is trying to save Naruto. With the Yin half of Kurama inside Naruto, it is going to be exciting to see what happens next.
