Fairy Tail Chapter 440 – Infiltrating Alvarez

Instead of colliding against the united force Alvarez possess with an equally massive force, Erza has decided to keep things simple and send in a recon team consisting of Natsu, Gray, Lucy, Wendy, Mest, Happy, Carla and herself to infiltrate the Alvarez Empire and save Makarov (if he is indeed captured). Unbeknownst to Erza, Gajeel with his abnormal hearing has overheard their conversation and has plans of his own to infiltrate the Alvarez Empire with a group composed of the Fairy Tail Team B members. With the revelation of the Spriggan Twelve and the number one Ten Wizard Saint becoming part of it, it has become clear that in order for Fairy Tail to succeed in saving Makarov, they will have to clash against mages that possess magical power equal to or greater than the level of Ishgar’s strongest mage.

What an unexpected flashback from Gajeel, to think there was something brooding within Gajeel’s heart and at the back of his mind. To acknowledge the void within his heart and to find a way to live his life in a meaningful manner, such thoughts over the years began to become more understandable and meaningful to Gajeel, that after his defeat to Natsu when he was in Phantom, Gajeel made the decision to change the way he lives his life. On top of that, the regret Gajeel feels at being unable to save the mother-figure in his life, one of the magic council members, Master Berno, must have hurt incredibly hard for him, especially when he really wanted to show her how he has changed and repay her for all her kindness and love.

Fairy Tail Chapter 396 – Gajeel VS Torafusa

Now we talking! Seeing Fairy Tail mages pushed to the extremes of their abilities is always exciting!

I was curious to see how Torsafusa and Tempesta would mount a counter attack on Natsu and Gajeel when they were so fired up, and it looks like Torafusa still had more to show after all. To be able to summon a massive body of water to cover such a large volume of space, that curse of Torafusa’s is quite something. Gajeel with the limited oxygen he has definitely has his work cut out for him but thanks to Levy, his life was saved allowing him to continue fighting.

What an ominous title for the beginning of the fifth part of the Tartarus arc – Extreme Pain. Will Fairy Tail really be alright against Tartarus and their plan to active several thousand Continental Magic Pulse Bombs (Face) simultaneously? Despite Fairy Tail being a match for Zeref’s demons and overcoming several of them already, what is this odd feeling that Mard Geer won’t completely fail by the end of this arc =/. Whom will end up feeling “extreme pain”? Does it have anything to do with Natsu and his relation to E.N.D? I am incredibly eager to find out how this exhilarating arc will conclude.

Well that was certainly enjoyable seeing Sting and Rogue get a beating by Gajeel and Natsu, even more so when all the higher level attacks they tried on Natsu and Gajeel were backhanded into ineffectiveness. The extra long chapter was amazing, so good having those extra pages to read, especially for this battle. Interesting end though, Dragon Force huh? Is it really THE Dragon Force we seen take down Jellal and Zero, or is some waterdowned version slightly more powerful than the Second Generation Dragon Force? Well will be interesting to see just how powerful Sting and Rogue’s Dragon Force is.

I…*takes a deep breath in*…now that was truly unexpected, to think that Nichiya was the person behind the Rabbit costume. How anti-climatic, how disturbing, how hilarious, how utterly discordanting to the senses, but how fitting for Ichiya’s partner so much so that it ended up being an awesome development =P. While I was expecting something more impacting from the identity of the rabbit, I was stunned in a different way and Nichiya appearing really is still a great development; I was wondering where the Exceed were now, seven years on from when we last seen them. Ichiya smoking Rocker and Bacchus (he sobered up too much from the shock of seeing Nichiya…) was awesome, no wonder Erza sees him at the strongest member on the Blue Pegasus team, but wow, how disturbing he can be…

Hahah, I actually didn’t think about the issue of the odd number teams in the battle rounds. I was so engrossed and captivated by all that came before the Raven Tail disqualification that that thought failed to cross my mind =P. Still what an awesome chapter, I loved Fairy Tail’s attitude and readiness for the fight Sabertooth is attempting to bring – nice one Sabertooth, you’ve pissed off the wrong people…

Fairy Tail Chapter 276 – Spirits Ablaze

Did not expect the second day to come so soon, was ready for some more drama during the night of the first day, but very glad that wasn’t the case, wanted to see more of the Grand Magic Games =D. Mashima-sensei is progressing this arc at such an excellent pace; just the right amount of drama, not spending too long on each scene, delivering a very healthy dose of quality humour (hahah Natsu and the other Dragon Slayers), and treating us to some great “battles”.
