To be able to manifest energy into a physical form when it existed as only ethereal matter, what a curious turn of events. What should be a moment darkened by danger is instead one left filled with fascination. It shouldn’t be possible but it is, Irene now has a physical form albeit not her original one but nonetheless, a form that exist within the physical plane for all to see and comprehend. If a magic exist to extract spiritual matter from an individual to then mold into a plushie-esque form, is it than also not possible for that same spiritual matter to be transformed into another physical form, one matching the appearance of Irene’s true human form? The lines of impossible have been blurred once again and Irene’s return seems more an inevitability now than a mere possibility.

[Theory] One Piece – Yamato And Fish-Man Island

When the Straw Hat Pirates visit Fish-Man Island again, I suspect the Island’s deeper relevance to the Void Century will be covered as the story threads of Poseidon, the “Ship of Promise” Noah, Wano and Luffy are weaved together. Obviously when that time comes, the Straw Hat Pirates are going to need someone who is both aware of Joy Boy and familiar with the Mythical Zoan Dragon Devil Fruit. Thankfully, Oda has crafted a character that fills such a purpose in the Wano arc i.e. Yamato.

[Theory] One Piece – Yamato And The Pheasant

The story of Wano Kuni is largely inspired by the Japanese folklore Momotarō. Within the story, Momotarō is born from a peach which an old couple find floating down a river. The couple named the child Momotarō (Momo being Peach). When the child matured, he left his parents to fight a band of Oni who marauded over the land. The Oni resided in the distant Island, Onigashima. Along the way, Momotarō met and befriended a talking dog, monkey and pheasant, who agreed to help him with his quest in exchange for a portion of his rations – kibi dango. When the group reached Onigashima, they penetrated the demons’ fort and defeated the band of demons. Momotarō and his friends returned home with the demons’ stolen treasure and the demon chief as captive.

While the Wano Kuni story is not stroke for stroke with the Momotarō folklore, Oda-sensei takes deep inspiration from major elements within the story. Momotarō is represented through Momonosuke. The Oni are represented by the Beast Pirates with the Oni chief being Kaido. Onigashima Island is the home base of Kaido. The plundered treasure is the home country of Momonosuke and his people’s freedom. Along the journey to Onigashima, Momonosuke befriends Luffy (who represents the Monkey) and Inuarashi (who represents the talking dog) and requests their aid in his quest to liberate Wano Kuni from Kaido and Orochi. Luffy answers Momonosuke’s request with a promise that he will defeat Kaido. Inuarashi protects Momonosuke and brings him to Wano Kuni. As at chapter 987, the Pheasant has yet to be revealed.

Dragon has assembled all his Executives in order to take their war against the injustice of the world to the next level. As it stands the manifestation of the that injustice they seek to fight exist in the form of the current Tenryuubito who undeservedly carry themselves as Gods.

The secret bond between Irene and Erza has finally been confirmed and as was made apparent since Irene’s introduction, they are mother and daughter albeit ones separated by a genuine relationship. Erza never knew her mother and Irene was long since under the assumption that Erza had perished some time in the past. As a result, the revelation of the truth ends up as a disconnect and the subsequent reactions of the two leads them to approaching the situation in a callous and indifferent manner. Irene has since realising the truth resolved to defeat her daughter and Erza in disbelief continues to stand against Irene regardless of whether Irene is her biological mother. There is no connection between the two to serve as an expression of their bond, only an empty relation which see’s the two of them baring their magic against each other.

I had suspected that there was a genuine reason for Sabo not being at Ace’s execution trying to save him, but for him to have become amnesic after the explosion of his ship when he left the Goa King, I can’t help but see the convenience in that twist. Sure it is to be expected that an explosion and shock can cause a person to suffer memory loss, but in this case, it does feel a little too convenient that Sabo only managed to regain his memory after Ace had died. It is not a terribly illogical development, as the possibility had crossed my mind, but I was expecting something much more…surprising.
