One Piece Chapter 764 – Donquixote Rosinante

One Piece chapter 764 - Rosinante reveals his intentions

I can completely see why Rosinante became such an important to Law now, he is such a lovable character

What an unbelievably lovable character Rosinante is, even though Doflamingo and he suffered through the same childhood, the way they both developed were completely different. Rosinante was able to rise above his rage and move on from the pain inflicted on him by those wanting revenge on the Tenryuubito, Doflamingo on the hand, became consumed by his rage and embraced the madness he saw in humans when they made him suffer, ultimately vowing to return the suffering back onto them. Seeing Rosinante try so hard to save Law, I can’t help but fall in love with his character. Knowing that Doflamingo eventually takes out Rosinante is inducing immense sadness in my heart, what a tragic chapter it will be when Doflamingo kills his own brother.

One Piece Chapter 736 – The Donquixote Elite Officers

One Piece chapter 736 - The Corrida Colosseum finalist

The Corrida Colosseum finalist, who will win?

You’ve got hand it to Oda-sensei, he knows how to create suspenseful and impacting moments that make you laugh and smile. I loved it when Viola told the group to ‘proceed with caution’ through the Palace lower sections and in the next scene we have Luffy attacking the guards. No matter how intricate and well-developed a plan you have is, if it doesn’t agree with Luffy’s instincts, he won’t follow it. And it is because of that, we are able to get unexpected and sudden developments which constantly keeps the story of an arc fresh and exciting. And it is because of that we were able to see Doflamingo’s ‘clueless’ face, it was priceless. Excellent chapter.

One Piece Chapter 732 – Within The Shadows Of Dressrosa

One Piece chapter 732 - Undercover Robin and Usopp

Undercover Robin (got to love them sunglasses) and Usopp

The Sugar surprise panic strategy has begun and with that so has the most important part of the arc, depending on what happens here, tremendous shock waves will be sent throughout the world. How exactly will the Strawhats and their alliances stop the Donquixote underground trading port and the SMILE factory? And how can such a massive underground trading port exist and function without the World Government knowing about it? I look forward to having these questions answered. Also Oda-sensei is one sly man, I noticed that Christmas present in the final double spread page as well as the hinting of ‘Santa’s-little-workshop’ going on, a very fitting chapter to end things at for the week of Christmas (ho ho ho – where is Brook when you need him, /sadface).

One Piece – Dressrosa Players

One Piece - Dressrosa Players v3.1

How the Dressrosa Arc looks when you summarise the characters involved

With so many characters becoming relevant this arc on top of all the quality developments I needed something visual to help myself understand this arc more intimately. It took me a while, but this is a summarised version of the players in this Dressrosa Arc at the moment.

One Piece Chapter 726 – Rebecca’s Father

One Piece chapter 726 - double page colour spread

The freedom of adventure

Oh wow, I was under the impression that Gladiator Ricky was Rebecca’s father but that turned out to not exactly be the case. Gladiator Ricky is actually the former king of Dressrosa, Riku Dold III, Rebecca’s grandfather. The person who I thought was the former king of Dressrosa was the Thunder Soldier, but he is in fact Rebecca’s father. I had expected as much that the Thunder Soldier was related to Rebecca in such a way and most likely the Thunder Soldier is the legendary gladiator Kyros.

One Piece Chapter 722 – The “Creators”

One Piece chapter 722 - The Tenryuubito

How kingdoms changed after the formation of the World Government

So that is how the Donquixote Family fit into the Tenryuubito…they were one of the twenty creators who established the World Government 800 years ago. Now I see why Doflamingo was able to pull off the stunt with the CP-0 and get the Tenryuubito to agree with it, because he is one of the Tenryuubito. So much for Doflamingo being just a mere pirate…but with the status Doflamingo has, it begs the question, why did he become a pirate? It was stated that Gol D Roger inspired Doflamingo, but what exactly is Doflamingo after now?
