A friendship twisted by unfortunate and tragic circumstances and a fate conflicted by emotion. King and Helbram, a bond of brotherhood divided by the cruelty of man and their insatiable curiosity. Each behind their individual reasons now stand against each other to express the depths of their regret onto the other. Torn asunder from the love he once embraced humans with, betrayal and torment now drive Helbram to extinguish all that he once loved. And King, with repentance weighing heavy on him, moves forward to end the suffering of his best friend. In the end, the totality of the circumstances erupt into sorrow and sadness.
Ever since King and Helbram encountered each other in Byzel, I have been wondering what the relationship between those two actually was, especially for King not to go serious against Helbram back in Byzel, but it turns out that they have an incredibly deep past extending way back to an incident 700 years ago where King made a promise to Helbram. Now I have begun to wonder what exactly that promise was. I honestly was not expecting this from Helbram as I didn’t really peg him as being a much of a major character but it turns out he is more important to the plot than I had initially surmised.
What exactly did Gowther see inside Dreyfus? What was that shadow? Does this mean that Dreyfus has been manipulated by a darker power all this time? Ah, so many questions with so little answers being given this chapter, yet the intensity turned up at the end with Helbram grossly wounding Diane and King arriving to stop him from dealing the finishing blow. Hopefully Diane will survive, but I wonder if this will cause King to go over the edge and get serious with Helbram unlike their previous encounter, especially considering that Helbram is a cunning opponent with a dangerous ability.
This arc has become one of the most exciting and climatic moments in Nanatsu no Taizai, I’m absolutely loving it! I had expected Diane to be pushed back while taking on 6 Holy Knights, but I also expected King to show up to back her up, which didn’t happen as Oslo fainted. What did happen though surprised me quite a bit yet excited me immensely. It was made apparent in previous chapters that Hauser didn’t want to hurt Diane and that Geera was growing suspicious of Helbram’s actions, but to think that those two would be forced to reevaluate the current path they are on against their beliefs, I was shocked. The “Holy Knights” had generally throughout the manga displayed themselves as being superficial protectors of justice, but finally those Holy Knight that do follow the path of protecting the people of the kingdom are finally beginning to see the tainted visage the “Holy Knights” now embody.
Well that was a bit unexpected, so Hendricken attempted to have Arthus “assassinated” during the walk to the castle. I was half-expecting Melodias and Arthur to end up clashing with each other during this arc, but with this development, things have got a lot more interesting. The Hendricksen vs Arthur match-up is quite the treat, I was wondering how strong Arthur was and I guess he may just tease us with his capabilities in this battle before it is interrupted – by Melodias and Co.? That hooded character traveling with Arthus, I am curious to learn who exactly they are and their purpose of traveling with Arthur. Diane showing up at the end of the chapter in the underground section of Merlin’s Research Facility was a surprising twist, looks like Diane and King will be the first of the Seven Deadly Sins to battle this arc =D.
Nanatsu no Taizai (by Suzuki Nakaba) also known as The Seven Deadly Sins tells the story of a group of criminals whom ten years prior to the start of the story had been accused of plotting to overthrow the Kingdom. Shortly after the Kingdoms enforcement division, the Holy Knights, launched an offensive against the group of criminals, known as the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’, that group disintegrated and went their separate ways. Now ten years later and the start of the story, a girl appears suddenly seeking to reunite the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ together to help combat the Holy Knights whom have deviated from their path of protection, order and peace.
