Edens Zero Chapter 198 – Sister VS Clown: Abyss

Edens Zero Chapter 198 - Sister returns to destroy Clown

A fight of sensation. A show of horror. An event without mercy. A result in domination. Clown sought to drown out Sister Ivry within the anguish of his nightmare but little did he know that the waves of exaltation cascading onto the shores of his psyche embodied an ocean too overwhelming for his hollow desires of torment to deprave. This was a game with one victor and it wasn’t the player who cast the nightmare that pretended to defile. Domination resided within the exponent of punishment. The embodiment of which reflected Sister. She unleashed her reckoning and embraced her role as avatar of subversion and agent of the abyss. Retribution against the Nightmare transpired through mental submission and with it the defeat of Clown followed.

Edens Zero Chapter 196 – Sister VS Clown: Runtime Error

Edens Zero Chapter 196 - Sister caught off guard by Clown's attack

Clown poses a curious query toward Sister in regards to the essence of life for machines and what constitutes the state of death to them. Expecting no adequate reply, Clown derives his own answer and provides an equally thought-provoking response. When he mentions the outcome of being unable to execute further lines of command, within what context is he referring. Clown is right within the context of isolation (human) where code cannot go further once the execution has stopped but once that state of mind is applied to the realm of reality, the answer becomes a bit more inquisitive. Yes, code cannot run once the execution has stopped but that doesn’t mean the program itself is void. In such circumstances, debugging and rerunning the code are engaged. Unlike a physical body which define humans, androids are more than just their shell, they are a system and intangible code which can be debugged, quarantined and updated.

Edens Zero Chapter 195 – Hermit VS Killer: TrapScript

Edens Zero Chapter 195 - Hermit takes on Killer

As is with code, when you know the issue you are dealing with, one can construct within the functionality of its operations, an encapsulating narrative to account for those variables otherwise confusion and the timely task of debugging become the process overwhelming the task. Expanding that logic into the context of Hermit battling Killer, the ambiguity represented in Killer’s programing came to embody a value outside the scope of the Edens Zero’s usual processing. If not for the data derived from Weisz’s efforts, the modus operandi Killer pursued would not have been identified by Hermit to factor into the functionality of her counterattack.

Edens Zero Chapter 190 – Rebecca VS Clown: Nightmare

Edens Zero Chapter 190 - Rebecca equips Happy guns

Clowns are often representative of entertainment but beyond the joy they reflect onto children, they also find symbolic meaning in nightmares within pop culture. This is why horror themed settings feature Clowns and amusement parks prominently within its narrative. There is a certain inherent terror sourced from subjects that embody innocence such as clowns, nuns, dolls or children. One of the most well known and genuinely terrifying horror characters is a clown (Pennywise). Following in tune with such a depiction, Clown’s Requip mode is a Nightmare version of his self. One that reflects the darker side of clowns. And true to its portrayal, the ominous cloud of terror is immediately felt as Rebecca disappears from sight leaving just Pino and Happy alone with Clown. (Pro tip: Don’t talk to clowns that happen to be in sewers).

Edens Zero Chapter 189 – Rebecca VS Clown: Conviction

Edens Zero Chapter 189 - Rebecca activates Ether Overdrive to fight Clown

The concept of strength exist in a state beyond the perception of ones abilities. Components comprising ones power incorporates more than just the martial proficiency of an individual. Awareness, determination, empathy, resonance, compatibility, familiarity, adaptation and luck are some elements that define the extents of ones abilities. And when it comes to Rebecca, she may not have battle experience equivalent to what the other members of the Edens Zero possess but what she does have is a brilliant acumen toward tackling obstacles and rising above them. Rebecca accepts her current state and rather than dwell on what she does not possess, she had directed her attention toward what she can do and utilising that to stand against those challenging the bonds of her family. The perception of strength is inconsequential to the conviction she holds towards her decision of protecting her family.
