Just when Fairy Tail find themselves with their backs against the wall, Laxus arrives with an electrifying entrance to tear it down blasting the arrogance of the Spriggan Twelve members back into their face. If the Alvarez Empire thought taking down Ishgar would be easy, clearly they have not crossed paths with a Fairy Tail mage before. With Laxus up to the challenge of silencing the hollow taunts of the Spriggan Twelve and matching their overwhelming power with his own magic, the battle between the two lands has just begun! What an interesting surprise, even with Mest’s intense chaining of teleports to get Makarov a fair distance away from the Alvarez Empire, Azir, the Desert King, still managed to follow the two via his sand to the main group. Seems like the Spriggan Twelve may have expected something of this nature to occur before Mest went in to save Makarov. Whatever the case, right now Fairy Tail have to battle their way towards the coast of Alakitasia where Mest can teleport the group within Sorano’s underwater vessel, Olympia, allowing them escape.

Fairy Tail Chapter 444-445 – Emperor Zeref

Will be interesting to see if the Spriggan Twelve can even match up to Acnologia

What an unexpected development yet one which holds a very logical basis behind it. The reason behind the Alvarez Empire desiring Lumen Histoire is all connected to Zeref and his currently unrevealed reason or reasons for desiring it. Zeref is currently the Emperor of Alvarez, an Empire which he created solely for the purpose of countering Acnologia. Since the Empires conception, Zeref has been preparing for the Dragon King Festival, a festival where Humans, the Dragon King and himself engage in battle to see who will be the ultimate victor. Within that festival of survival, I assume Zeref too plans for the whole situation to further pull Natsu towards his role as E.N.D. Ultimately, what Zeref desires is to be killed by E.N.D.

Fairy Tail Chapter 442 – The Threat Of Alvarez

I feel like some mango gelato now…

Well that didn’t take long, a Spriggan Twelve member appears! And here I was wondering if we would have to wait until Alakitasia for the serious Alvarez Empire mages to show up. Looks like there is more substance to the threat the Alvarez Empire poses than I had initially surmised. I doubt Natsu and Co. will end up defeating a Spriggan Twelve member so soon in this arc, so I am curious to see what Erza and Co. will do once they find a way to escape from Marin’s space magic – surely the threat the Spriggan Twelve members represent for Fairy Tail in this arc is an element central to its story. Once Marin is defeated, I can see Erza and Co. escaping Brandish.

Fairy Tail Chapter 440 – Infiltrating Alvarez

I seriously cannot wait to see how much more powerful Erza has become over this past year

Instead of colliding against the united force Alvarez possess with an equally massive force, Erza has decided to keep things simple and send in a recon team consisting of Natsu, Gray, Lucy, Wendy, Mest, Happy, Carla and herself to infiltrate the Alvarez Empire and save Makarov (if he is indeed captured). Unbeknownst to Erza, Gajeel with his abnormal hearing has overheard their conversation and has plans of his own to infiltrate the Alvarez Empire with a group composed of the Fairy Tail Team B members. With the revelation of the Spriggan Twelve and the number one Ten Wizard Saint becoming part of it, it has become clear that in order for Fairy Tail to succeed in saving Makarov, they will have to clash against mages that possess magical power equal to or greater than the level of Ishgar’s strongest mage.

Fairy Tail Chapter 438-439 – The Alvarez Empire

It appears that it is going to take more than Fairy Tail this time to take down this antagonist group

To think Mest’s secret mission inside the Magic Council held such importance to the story of Fairy Tail that it has become the foundation for a brand new arc/saga Fairy Tail is about to enter into, I can only colour myself shocked and impressed. Within a chapter Mashima-sensei managed to resolve both Mest’s purpose and the reason why Makarov was so adamant in dissolving Fairy Tail once the previous Magic Council was destroyed. All for the sake of protecting his family and preventing the danger the “Alvarez Empire” represents from targeting Fairy Tail. With Makarov in danger and Fairy Tail revived, this new arc has me tremendously excited, especially with it incorporating an area of the Fairy Tail world that is outside not only the Fiore Kingdom but the Ishgar region which we have been centered in for the past 438 chapters. BRING. IT. ON.
