Catherine (PS3)

Catherine Poster-2

I’m still seeing staircases of blocks in my mind, ah such an addicting and fun game

In a world without limit, in a world without reality, in a world called a dream, you wake up to a reflection of everything encompassing all that is you. You find yourself, remember yourself, change yourself, just so you can forget yourself to find the “answers” to “life”.

Catherine is a game about the choices we make, the mistakes we encounter, the troubles we overcome, and the lengths we go to just to grasp that which we have made a decision on. It’s a strange metaphor present in Catherine; the ambiguity of life, reality and all that we must overcome, the freedom in choice and the importance in maturity. And while it is a strange metaphor, it is such a thought-provoking and compelling one. The answers that we seek only come after the questions disappear, the real challenge in life is arriving at your answer before that happens; to struggle, to endure, to persevere. The falling “staircases” present in Vincent’s nightmare represents all that, it places Vincent and all those who wound up in the nightmare to take a good hard look at themselves and once placed in life and death situations make a choice of what they want or what they believe they should do; the stairway in the nightmare forces the participants to mature. The choice is their own, the consequences that results are theirs to suffer and the life brought about through their actions are ones they have the freedom to do with what they want.

Diablo III – My Dance With Diablo (Inferno)

Diablo III - Inferno Diablo Defeated

The boss of the boss, the evil of the prime, the prime of the evil, THE Diablo of Diablo III has been defeated (4 player group), and man it feels good, such an epic battle!

Out of the ashes and shadows left behind by the trail of destruction and terror caused by the Lord of Terror himself, who has now assumed the role of the Prime Evil, the evil composed of all the evils of Hell itself, four heroes rise up and step into light ushering in through their mixed yet enigmatic blood, a destiny which remains unwritten yet held dear among the hopes of many, both mortal and immortal. These four heroes stand in front of hell itself, they face off against that which seeks to destroy all who live and all who yet remain to be subjugated under the terror and force of the ultimate darkness. Overcoming death, life and even themselves, these four heroes arise from the flames of Hell cast across the skies of the High Heavens to vanquish the Prime Evil and restore balance and light to all engulfed in the shadows of an ancient feud still ongoing and forever existing between two contrasting yet identical beings and the factions that represent them.

A dance of pain, a dance of intensity, a dance of victory, a dance of disbelief, a dance of euphoria….a smile of satisfaction. Yeah yeahhhh!! Inferno Diablo is DOWNED!! (Diablo III, defeated!)

Fanart Dimension – Samus Aran

Drawing - Samus Aran - by Syphin

The galaxy’s greatest bounty hunter and one of gaming’s sexiest heroines, Samus Aran

This piece was requested by one of my guildmates (here), he wanted Samus Aran (Metroid) in her zero suit with her special gun in a sexy pose, not sure how I nailed the sexy down but regardless, Samus Aran is by default amazingly sexy and this drawing was really fun to create.

Diablo III – The End of Days (Part II)

DiabloIII - Syphin - Screenshot043

Syphin – The Hero of Diablo! =P

Ended up logging off when I reached level 11, I just couldn’t fight the sandman’s alluring and beckoning call to dreamland. Running around and dousing off only to open your eyes a few moments later to find yourself in the middle of a mass of monsters and/or half-way across the map…you know then that you’ve had enough and it’s time to sleep…

When I logged back in I decided to try out the cooperative mode with a few of my guild mates. I became immensely interested in it when I seen just how fast they were leveling their characters in that mode compared to me going at it solo =D. And certainly playing cooperative mode along with the fun you can share with other people, makes it much easier to level and progress through content. And another great thing about the cooperative mode is that you have the option to give your team mates rare loots that are useless to your character class and vice versa for them.

Diablo III – The End of Days (Part I)

Diablo3-wallpaper-fanart-3

Diablo III – Death and destruction plague the land engulfed by chaos and darkness. The foretold end days has begun its countdown unto it’s existence…

I am shocked at how smooth everything in the game comes together; from the ease at which it is to pick up and play this game (it’s ridiculously easy), the overwhelming fun that you get when you play it; the fact that even with its ease to play there is so much depth in how things work and are set-up. I’m beginning to wonder just how did Blizzard end up refining this game so much? Ah and I’m only at the start! (well a couple of hours in, but it’s the beginning – my monk is level 10).

Diablo III – It Has Begun!

Diablo III - Syphin - Monk

“…attacks faster than the eye can follow…” – mmm Monk’s are badass

Got my copy of Diablo III today and hahah had to visit several stores until I could find one, the first two didn’t have them in stock =(. Fortunately Dick Smith did =D. Ended up playing Diablo II: Lord of Destruction a few days ago just to refresh my memory of the story and the gameplay, it was fun running around as a Sorceress. Anyway the installing did take some time but finally in the game! Oh so I thought…forgot I had to wait until America reached midnight of the 15th of May =(. Anyway I can log in now, but wow so many session/request time outs…

Xenoblade Chronicles – A Truly Astonishing Game

Xenoblade Chronicles-1

Fate and Destiny forged anew, the path to the future lies in today

Xenoblade came to a shock to me because before I knew it, I was completely engrossed in the game and found it extremely hard to not want to play the game. There is so much packed into the game that it actually becomes hard to find yourself becoming bored. From the collectable blue orbs, to the quests, to the story, to the characters, to the achievements, to the world, to exploring the massive world that exist in Xenoblade, to the amazingly handled combat system, every one of those things made the experience of playing Xenoblade so much fun. And without a doubt it is the most fun RPG I have played in the past year.

Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die - Phi and Sigma

Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die

If you read my 999: Nine Hours Nine Persons Nine Doors post on my blog before, you’ll know just how much I loved that game and now Extreme Escape Adventure: Good People Die, the second game in the series, is coming out on the Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita (so glad I got a 3DS). I’m beyond excited and estatic, it felt so great when I found out about this game (and I doubt I was the only one).

The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword

The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword

Quite possibly the greatest Zelda game ever created. The only thing that separates it from that title is personal preference. Skyward Sword pushes the Zelda formula and mechanics further than any other Zelda game and brings forward an extremely fun and innovative way to play Zelda. I can see just why Skyward Sword is being hailed as the greatest Zelda game created by a lot of people because it opens up such a fun and interactive way to play the game.
