Strength is such a variable concept as no matter how overwhelming it becomes, there can arise a seemingly inconsequential attribute that serves to completely dismantle the power that initially appeared infallible. This is the form Kiria’s Dragon Slayer magic takes. On face value, it doesn’t appear to be as immense as other magics but the fascinating aspect of Kiria’s abilities is how it can distort both the magical and psychological aspect of the target. What Kiria cuts when she attacks is the hostility directed towards her that is entrenched within the individual. Which in turn establishes the obedience that she exploits. Kiria did it with Erza before and now with Laxus. Amusingly, it does seem set-up that Lucy will take the role Kiria played during her battle against Erza and Laxus in regards to overwhelming them with her magic. Lucy will utilise a magic that will in the end dismantle Kiria’s strength.

Flames are an element that resides on both sides of existence. It can destroy and it can create. The raging inferno it embodies consumes all but within its ceaseless passion, the ashes it leaves behind can awaken life and initiate a state of renewal. The conflict established between Ignia and Natsu pits the two characteristics of flames together and while the confrontation of their intentions collides in this moment, the stage on which their inevitable clash will take place lives in a future time.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 99 – Erza VS Misaki: Shatter

As the great Labyrinth of Dogramag reconstructs itself into a different layout, the positioning of various characters shift itself. Allies are separated and reunited, and at the same time encounters with antagonistic forces begins to arise. Natsu runs into Suzaku, Lucy drops in on Kiria and Erza’s team meets Misaki. Almost as soon as they meet, Misaki is attacking Fairy Tail with Erza being the subject of her offense. Intending to kill Erza, Misaki fails at that but succeeds in shattering Erza’s armor and hair. The hair Erza had come to care greatly for ever since Jellal got a pardon from Queen Hisui. Erza’s feelings for Jellal have been attached to her hair so having it torn apart like that is an act that won’t be brushed aside so easily. Erza is mad and burning to unleash.

Compassionate, courageous and completely inspiring; Wendy continues to convey the endless extents of her potential through the application of magics that reaches beyond the levels of just Enchanter. Wendy has taken Irene’s lessons to heart and conditioned her mind, body and spirit to resonate with the types of magics Irene is capable of casting which consequently has allowed her to begin accessing High Enchantment level techniques. Without relying on Irene’s magic, Wendy was able to draw out power capable of trapping and defeating a Dark Dragon Slayer. Irene has noticed this and being a High Enchanter herself, understands when another has achieved such a level. Wendy has grown and through such a journey, Irene herself in beginning to change as well.

The dynamics between Wendy and Irene within the series have been incredibly affecting. The two certainly have differing perspectives and approaches to handling situations but I feel that such a contrast enables them to broaden how they see life and how they view themselves. In Irene’s case, she was never able to be a mother to Erza but through Wendy she is playing the role of mentor and in a way, the role of a mother. That protective reaction Irene has when it comes to Wendy isn’t just some fleeting feeling but one defined within the core of Irene. The motherly love she possessed but was never able to fully express.

To be able to manifest energy into a physical form when it existed as only ethereal matter, what a curious turn of events. What should be a moment darkened by danger is instead one left filled with fascination. It shouldn’t be possible but it is, Irene now has a physical form albeit not her original one but nonetheless, a form that exist within the physical plane for all to see and comprehend. If a magic exist to extract spiritual matter from an individual to then mold into a plushie-esque form, is it than also not possible for that same spiritual matter to be transformed into another physical form, one matching the appearance of Irene’s true human form? The lines of impossible have been blurred once again and Irene’s return seems more an inevitability now than a mere possibility.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 96 – Laxus VS Kirin: Red

There are few mages that can challenge Laxus when it comes to single combat, so I was curious to see how far Kirin would be able to push Laxus beyond his usual capabilities. Kirin was able to catch Laxus off guard with his unique type of Atmosphere magic to the point where he felt confident enough to reveal to Laxus how his magic functions. In Kirin’s mind, he wrote Laxus off and believed he wouldn’t be able to counter his magic. Expectantly though, Laxus was able to use the environment to his advantage to channel his lighting through which included taking advantage of the properties of his Red Lightning Dragon Mode. Curiously though, while Kirin was overwhelmed, he revealed that it was time he got serious? Is this merely smoke or does Kirin truly have a larger power he has been holding back for moments like this? I truly hope Kirin gets seriously push Laxus.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 95 – Dogramag: Inside The Living Labyrinth

With the labyrinth now possessing a sentience, one does begin to wonder why Dogramag chose to evoke the form of a labyrinth from their remaining spirit when defeated by Elefseria. What does the labyrinth serve and why even embody such a construct in the first place? Does Dogramag seek to protect something? Or are the intentions they possess all but noise with their life having been sealed in the past? But if they were truly killed, would it ultimately matter if they failed in protecting whatever they are protecting? Something definitely is in play with the Labyrinth and I suspect due to Dogramag being the weakest of the Six Dragon Gods, they bridged any gap in power that existed with moments of cunning.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Chapter 94 – Dogramag: Selene’s Game

Selene may be underestimating Fairy Tail but there is part of her that recognises the significance of Fairy Tail that played a major role in taking down Acnologia. Otherwise such a game would not be entertained by Selene. She may be overconfident but she presents herself as someone who is also careful to not get drunk by her power. Her status as a Dragon God isn’t just a title but one that embodies exactly what she is. Black and white doesn’t capture the vastness of existence and Selene realises that. Enemies that have reason to fight you don’t necessarily have to be enemies. The manner in how she became Diabolos’s Guild Master AND convinced Fairy Tail to take part in her game is testament to her charisma and power of negotiation. Selene understands her nature as well as how others perceive her. Such self-awareness is part of the reason for why Selene is such an amazing and curious character.
