Kozuki Oden was portrayed as quite the thug in this chapter, one seemingly not warranting any shred of compassion or support. I presume this was intentional by Oda-sensei as he had only revealed Oden filtered through the eyes and mouth’s of others. I would wager that exactly like Hiyori when she was first introduced as Komurasaki with an antagonistic lense, Oda-sensei is doing the exact same thing with Oden where whatever he does is viewed negatively by the those commenting on him and verbally painting his social image. Beyond such subjective analytics, Oden may very well be completely different to how he has been “portrayed” by the public of Wano Kuni. This does seem like the path the story is headed towards with Wano Kuni finally having an opportunity to see the true Oden.
Orochi’s desperation is precipitating towards his actions but given the information he had available and the fears of his downfall which he has been dreading for the past 20 years, it is only natural to see Orochi do whatever he can to avoid having the power he once brutally stole away from the Kozuki Clan now being robbed away from him. Even if it means destroying the bridges that connect the different Islands of Wano Kuni together, Orochi considers that destruction necessary to prevent the rebellion from launching an assault on Onigashima Island. What Orochi has failed to take into account is the ingenuity of the Straw Hat Pirates and what they are capable of in such situations. One way or another, despite Orochi’s efforts and beliefs, the rebellion shall reach Onigashima Island.
So the individual that captained two of the current Yonko – Big Mom and Kaido – was a man called Rocks. And not only that, he ended up catching the attention of Edward “Whitebeard” Newgate who also saw something within Rocks to accept him as his captain. For someone to have had captained three of the future Yonko, what is it that made such potential-laden pirates want to follow Rocks or is it a result of them following Rocks that led them to becoming such infamous names within the current age? For pirates with such strong personalities to come together and work together, a leader of tremendous presence and vision would be required. Merely banding together for fame and fortune wouldn’t be sufficient to maintain the groups direction. Who was Rocks D. Xebec and what led him to want to become King of the World?
