Confronted by a Yonkou, a reasonable man would cower and flee yet the Straw Hat Pirates are filled with unreasonable people and those sharing similar qualities radiate towards them. Jinbe shares in the same conviction as the Straw Hat Pirates and with the might and rage of Big Mom directed towards him, he shows zero hesitation, fear and regret. Jinbe’s resolve has completely nullified Big Mom’s soul sucking ability relative to himself. This must be a rare for Big Mom, to have someone unafraid of her. Jinbe has finally cut his ties with the Big Mom Pirates and has expressed his intentions to join the Straw Hat Pirates.

The uniqueness of Pudding

What an unexpected development yet something so characteristic of the Straw Hat Pirates i.e. Sanji. I am glad my own perception of Pudding was able to be humbled by the truth/trauma hidden behind her nastiness and deceit. I was passionate about Pudding’s duplicity yet after that flashback and getting an idea of the suffering Pudding endured that led her to wrap herself in such an antagonistic personality, I can finally understand why she acts the way she does. It was a psychological defensive mechanism born from the pain, anger and heartbreak of her treatment by her family. Pudding was a victim of others ignorance and as a result she came to develop an emotionless outlook on life.

Which of these characters will remain relevant?

Not too much longer now until Capone’s plan is put into action. The pieces have been laid out and all that is left is for Sanji to dodge Pudding’s “kiss” to signal the initiation of the Big Mom assassination plan. Many powerful characters have been named but beyond Big Mom herself and the remaining two Sweet Commanders, I don’t believe we need to worry about the other referenced characters at this point in time. I’m sure the other elder children of Big Mom are powerful but they shouldn’t pose as much danger as the Sweet Commanders. Still, “something” is going to go wrong.

Kong: Skull Island (2017) Review

This film should not have been as entertaining as it was…

This film surpasses expectations and the seemingly ‘generic’ premise of man VS monster to become a film that is more entertaining than it initially appears. Kong: Skull Island is a great example of how inspired writing and visionary directing can transform a potentially mindless monster flick into a film holding impact, substance and excitement. The story engages you, the characters grow on you, the setting intrigues you and Kong in general delivers everything you expect and than some.

Logan (2017) Review

It starts with an encounter.

This isn’t a story about super heroes, it is a story about humans who come to terms with themselves, their actions, their past, and the decisions they make relevant to the future they have a part in creating. It isn’t a story about good overcoming evil, but one where both qualities are questioned and reflected in each individual. A story where blame is shared with everyone having their respective demons. The message tied within the grim desperation surrounding the events is that of accepting both the good and bad inside you to make the steps necessary to move forward. Logan is a story of liberation, life and humanity.
