A new Ghost in the Shell project, oh hell yes please! The project will consist of four 50-minute parts, with the first part, “Ghost Pain,” beginning its run in Japanese theaters for two weeks on Saturday, June 22. Arise was confirmed by the series composer and script writer, Tow Ubukata to be the prequel series to Stand Alone Complex.
The show’s cast is as follow: Maaya Sakamoto as Mokoto Kusanagi, Kenichirou Matsuda as Batou, Tarusuke Shingaki as Togusa, Tomoyuki Dan as Ishikawa, Takurou Nakakuni as Saito, Youji Ueda as Paz, Kazuya Nakai as Borma, and Ikkyuu Juku as Daisuke Aramaki.
While I am happy that Maaya Sakamoto is voicing Mokoto, I am extremely sad that Atsuko Tanaka isn’t voicing her in this new series, I loved the way she portrayed Mokoto in the other series and I just down right love the way she voices mature badass women. I am sad, but I will believe in Maaya Sakamoto’s talent and I guess it is fitting to have Sakamoto voice a younger Mokoto as she did voice young Mokoto in the other series. Also I’m not exactly sold on Mokoto’s new character design, I don’t mind it but I loved her Stand Alone Complex design much better. Still, MORE GHOST IN THE SHELL!! I am ecstatic and so grateful that we are getting more Ghost in the Shell, especially since it is my favourite anime (series and movie) and because Mokoto is my favourite female anime character =D. Mmmmmm, looking forward to it very much.
