The Summer Anime Season has started rolling. While the list may not be as massive as the Spring 2011 line-up, there are still quite a few well-known titles getting anime and some others which in my opinion have really interesting story settings.
Based on the series in the chart, I’m looking forward to:
>> Usagi Drop:
Really really looking forward to this. Sometimes you just need a heartwarming josei story to balance out the rest of what you watch…=). The story sounds really good too – sounds like a touching story, which I love =D. One of the anime airing on the noitaminA time-slot which airs some real quality anime – so far I’ve loved all the anime I’ve watched which aired in this time-slot.
>> Appleseed XIII:
Oh yes please. I love Masamune Shirow’s works and I love Appleseed and I love Production I.G. It’s a CG anime adaptation which I’m interesting in seeing how it will look, and it’s a science fiction story – you don’t get many of these in anime these days =D. Anime really does need more science fiction stories (like the West), not just fantasy and slice-of-life type ones.
>> Natsume Yuujin-Chou San:
Of course I’m watching this, it’s really good. I watched the first two seasons and I really enjoyed them. Natsume Yuujin-Chou does feel a lot like Mushishi (which is one of my favourite anime) but not as complex and penetrating. Still I find this a great series and am looking forward to being moved by it once again =D.
>> No.6:
Interesting title for a series but another science fiction story =D, plus it’s being produced by Studio BONES – they bring out good stuff. Can’t say I understand much about the story, but I’ll leave that to when I start watching it. The second show to air on the noitaminA time-slot – I have yet to be disappointed by an anime airing in that slot.
>> Kamisama Dolls:
What deceiving trailers =P. I watched the girls side trailer first and thought it was a ‘slice-of-life’ type story but oooohhh boy, how wrong I was. Watching the story side trailer next, I realised how much I want to see this show – it’s dark (much more darker) and more story driven than I initially thought. It looks fantastic and it sounds interesting.

>> Blood-C:
Yes please once again. Blood: The Last Vampire and Blood+ are great and I love them, so really looking forward to Blood-C. CLAMP does great artwork, so I’m looking forward to seeing the character designs and story they come up with. Production I.G is handling the animating. I’m already in love with it from just seeing the trailers:
>> Dantalian no Shoka:
It’s being produced by Gainax, so I’m definitely interested. Story sounds interesting too. Sawashiro Miyuki is the voice of the female lead – her along with Sakamoto Maaya are my favourite seiyuu =).
>> Ikoku Meiro no Croisee:
Art style is good, I like it. Also it’s set in France, so it will be great to see how the architecture and society look in Paris in the 1800s. Satelight is producing the anime.
>> Sacred Seven:
Sunrise produces good ‘hot-blooded’ action series (haven’t watched Tiger & Bunny yet but I plan to – I hear it’s real good). The trailer looks good, and MECHA!!
>> Kami-sama no Memo-chou:
I wasn’t initially planning to watch this (let alone interested in it), but the trailer changed my mind and has gotten me interested in seeing where this series goes:
>> Blade:
The fourth of the Marvel and Madhouse works. I seen Wolverine and I’m planning to watch the X-Men anime series. I’m interested in seeing what Blade has in store, but I’m not expecting anything ground-breaking. It should be entertaining, hopefully…O.o.
OVA:
>>Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trailer OVA 5:
Roberta is awesome (brutally awesome) and I loved her arc in the manga. Looking forward to the final episode in the OVA series.

These are the series that interest me, but as to whether I’ll watch them all, I wonder, hopefully I’ll have time. I haven’t even watched much of the Spring Anime Season either. I am only following (well followed since it’s over now) one series from the Spring season. And truthfully, I’m actually still catching up on some of the series from the Winter Season which I want to watch =P.
>> In other news, there is going to be a Rurouni Kenshin live-Action film in 2012 (ANN) and a new Rurouni Kenshin anime project =D (ANN).
Rurouni Kenshin is a great series and at one point in time, the anime was my favourite anime (along with Hellsing). I’ve only watched until the end of the Kyoto arc (with Makoto Shishio as the antagonist – he is awesome). I’m not exactly sure why, but I haven’t watched past that arc…maybe I should revisit the series and watch the episodes I haven’t yet, or just read the manga =). The Trust & Betrayal OAV was great, really enjoyed it when I watched it. Also I do love the “will to survive” theme going on in the manga (it’s quite the powerful statement – the will to survive is stronger than anything).
